afadzli
Hi there, After browsing around, looking in forum and HCL, can somebody tell/recommend which sound card is the best (line in/out works and cheap) for osx86. I have my onboard sound card working but no line in. One more thing, does anybody own Creative Extigy? Does the sound ok? In HCL in says that it sounded "rough"?? What does that mean? Just want a second opinion.
lukelee
PCI or USB/Firewire? M-audio 2496 Audiophile is cheap and it comes with Mac drivers.
afadzli
I don't mind actually. As long as I can use it on osx86 and all the audio in and out work. Thanks for the info.
lukelee
I don't have that card so I can't confirm compability. But it should work.
zam
Let me be a bit more precise: the PCI version of M-audio 2496 Audiophile DOES NOT work, as there is no reason to make intel-mac drivers for it. USB/Firewire-versions of similair cards often do work.
Warstrong
$100 isn't exactly cheap enough for me... I was hoping more like $20-$30....just want sound working in osx, and better sound than what I have for onboard sound in windows (going to get a nice set of headphones in the coming months) PCI is kinda preferred just because it's usually better than usb, but if it makes more sense to get a USB one then that's okay thanks
