dino
Hi sorry for not answering you earlier. ok here is the problem you have. SATA HDD's will give you what we call: device blovking bus wich causes you sysem to freeze. 10.4.7 has the AppleVIAATA.kext modified so it sees SATA HDD's at native installation. I also had this problem and since i bought an ATA HDD, my system never froze ever ever again. You said that you have updated your kernel, and you think this might be your problem. Have you ever had your system freezing before updating? Note, that evem one freeze is enough. Answer me first, then I will give you one method for observing the errors of your system, so we can see if it's really the HDD wich is cousing the system to freeze or it's just your kernel crashes. Waiting for reply. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/33669-random-freezes-after-many-times-at-macosx/#findComment-238487 Share on other sites

Siegfried
I have a similar problem, but it's reproducible every time. For example, when I launch Software Update or Disk Utility, the system freezes. I have one ATA drive and one SATA drive. I use the ATA drive for OS X and the SATA for other operating systems.
