jbond
I have seen some reports suggesting that that MacBooks seem to run faster and snapier than the MacBook Pros. Yesterday I went to my local Apple Store and it seemed to be the case, if not faster, the MacBook was just as fast. Is this true or is it just my imagination. Given that money is not an issue, just want to get a laptop thats fast and will last me a couple of years. I am considering either: 1. MacBook - 2.0 Ghz C2D 2 GB RAM (White) Upgrade HDD to 7200 RPM 2. MacBookPro - 2.33 Ghz C2D 2 GB RAM Upgrade HDD to 7200 RPM Technically it should be a no brainer. The MacBook Pro should kick ass, but for some reason I'm not seeing the snapiness that aught to be there for the MBP. Maybe Its because of the tons of {censored} they have running on the MBP at the apple store. Also I guess the MBP should be much faster while using Aperture / Games etc. Any thoughts would be appreciated. rollcage
The MBP is much faster, not only is the processor faster, but the graphics chip will make a HUGE difference when it comes to dealing with photos, video, and games. There are several reasons why the macbook could have SEEMED faster, one of them is what you already suggested. Also, what were the differences in ram? did the macbook have 2 gb and the MBP only 512 mb? If money seriously isn't an issue and you are going to be doing some gaming and using aperture, then you should go with the MBP. Maybe the MBP you used had a virus... A Nonny Moose
The original models had the MacBook not pros running pretty close to their pro cousins (unless you were running Aperture or playing a game). The current MacBook Pros, however, are indeedy do faster. munky
will a 2.16Ghz Core 2 Duo MBP really outperform a 2Ghz Core 2 Duo MacBook by that much? for cpu tests at least, i would doubt it. He isn't looking for "A good processor benchmark score," at least as far as I can tell from the initial post. He's looking for a good overall Apple laptop.
