Aldormanndiobla
Hi! I have som very basics questions regarding OSX86 that haven't been answered in clear text to me: 1. Can I run OSX86 on a PC without any Apple hardware? 2. If so, does OSX86 have GUI? I have looked up a laptop that I want buy and I am curious if I can get OSX86 working on it, the comnputer I am about to buy is: CPU: Intel Pentium D 630 (3.0Ghz/2Mb/800Mhz/HT) RAM: 2Gb DDR2 533 HDD: 2x100Gb 7200rpm 8Mb S-ATA DVD/RW: 8X Dual Layer Graphic: Nvidia GeForce GO 7800 GTX PCI-E 16X, 256MB Network: Gigabit LAN och WLAN 4xUSB 2.0, 2xFireWire, Modem, PCMCIA, cardreader, RAID, camera, bluetooth... If I can use OSX86, shall I download the "MAC OS X 10.4.8 Intel Only Jas re-seed (SSE3 Only - NO AMD)", is that enought if I want a working OSX86 with GUI? 3on
Yes it works without any apple hardware. But it quite hard to have a full support of your hard dirve, Nvidia graphic cards for exampel aren't fully support for now. you should get CPU-Z for windows and launch it to know if your CPU is SSE3 compatible if it is you can install the last DVD install release. Aldormanndiobla
aha, thanks for your fast reply! But why will it be problem with the harddrive, I know that I will have 2, but I can always use one off them and make partion? Ok, whick graphic card do you suggest, is there anything more I should check, like type of network card? Ah, so the latest release is GUI? Many thanks! Rammjet
The hard drive problem may occur because you have SATA hard drives. OSX has support for only Intel and VIA SATA controller chips. If your motherboard doesn't have the right chip, OSX won't work with the SATA hard drives. In that case get a PATA hard drive for OSX. A 20 GB drive can be obtained for next to nothing. All versions of OSX for PC have a GUI.
3on
It is better to have a IHE Hard drive since ATA hard drive aren't allways supported (if I'm not wrong it depend on your SATA controller that has to be INTEL). It seams that most ot ATI cards are supported whereas no nVidia (except under 10.4.8, some people get them work thanks to Titan.kext) is fully supported. And of course it is GUI, what could we all do of it if it was not ?
Aldormanndiobla
It is good to know all of this stuff, that's why I am asking ;D But there is nothing else to worry about, like network card etc., I have heard that people have many problems with USB 2.0? Do you guys have any recomended settings when installing? This is an laptop, so you know. And are there out good tutorials for OSx86 10.4.8 with dual OS installing, so i can choose OS on startup? Sorry for my noob questions, I am new to this with OSx86 and I want everything to work smooth ^^ Many thanks for your answers this far!
