asapreta
First installed the 10.4.8 with it´s package selected on "extras" of JAS 10.4.8. No Sound. Tried to edit like posted by Rammjet (it worked fine in my 10.4.6/7), no go. Keeps complaing about not valid kext or something. Reinstalled from the package (DVD) and edited again, same problems. In 10.4.7 worked fine (I have even the KEXT saved) but now I have no sound. Any clues?

Same problem here... needed to edit kext for 882 (seems that JaS kexts are set up for 880 chipset?), but kexts won't load. Something about ownership or permissions, which is probably meaningless error message since I've repaired them and checked them by hand as well. Trying to load kexts from my existing 10.4.6 installation doesn't work either.

Note: Many USB Audio sound "cards" work out of the box with 10.4.8. I got USB Audio because I kept running into USB Audio-In Problems. I could also manage to get out working. Then I decided to buy a USB Mic. Go Figure. Just wanted to say if you get tired is messing with sound drivers, an alternative is USB Audio. If you find a USB Audio device that is for Mac and PC. 99.999% chance it will work right out of the box. As long as you have USB 1.1/2.0 working correctly. Which I personally haven't ran into yet. asapreta
I do prefer to use my onboard audio. If you manage to put it to work will be great. As MIC I have a Logitech PS2 Headset that works great. Thanks
PascalW
I just copied an old appleAzaliaAudio from an an installtion with the old kernel where my sound did work and it works now with the new kernel (it's the kext from the goatsecx dvd btw, with all other dvds my sound didn't work with my alc880)
asapreta
I´ve used the "old" kext, but no luck. Keeps complaining about the ownership and permissions
PascalW
I´ve used the "old" kext, but no luck. Keeps complaining about the ownership and permissions DId you manually repaired permissions to the kext? And removed the kextcache and mkext? And which kext are you using? As I said the only one worked for me was from goatsecx so maybe if you use that I will work too?

sheepdog43
I have audio working, thanks Rammjet, but my audio and video is choppy. It was not like this on older installs. More weird is that my xbench scores are much higher. Any ideas?

The value should be around 133-266.
