Hi .... I'm a really huppy , Sony Vaio FS-415M MacOSx 10.4.8 full working owner !!!!!

Normal booting , sound (only on speakers) NVidia on 1280x800 only issue is no Airport (still.... but i will , i think )

Thank you all for your support , drivers coders and all the community (Jas really Rocks) ...

Dimitris

It seem JaS.10.4.8.Intel.SSE3 cant be installed on some laptop as perfectly as the PC.

Share your story about the JaS.10.4.8 installation on your laptop.

Hardware: Acer 2492 WLMi

CPU: Celeron M 420, 1.6 Ghz, SSE2, SSE3

DVD: TSSTcorpCD/DVDWTS-L-(SM)

HDD: Hitachi HTS541680J9S-(PM)

RAM: 512 mb DDR2

GFX: GMA 945GM (Mobile)

Sound: ALC883 (Realtek)

Wifi: Broadcom 4311

LAN: Broadcom 4400

Sound: Realtek ALC 883

10.4.6 Installation:

Out of the box:

HDD works

WIFI works

LAN works

Sleep works

GFX works (1280x800x32)

Modem not tested

Cardreader not working

DVD read/write works

Tourchpad works

Energy saving like lowering down CPU speed etc. seems not to work. Looks like it is running in full speed. Some times the fan turns on, than of. Fully loaded battery runs about 1,5/2 hours. Same on Vista.

With kext modifications:

Sound: Only out

10.4.8 JAS Final Installation:

Out of the box:

GFX works

HDD works

DVD writer works

Touchpad works

WIFI not working

LAN not working

Sleep NOT WORKING!

Modem not tested

Energy Saving: same as 10.4.6, i think.

Touchpad works

Card reader not working

With kext modification:

Sound: Out works, MIC works, Line In works (ALC883 (8.8.1 Kernel ONLY!))

Tried to get sleep to work by changing the 8.8.1 kernels, but it DOES NOT WORK. Everything seems like the original JAS 10.4.8 install above:

Semthex latest (After 17.Feb.2007 SeedStep release): sleep still not working

DaemonES: sleep still not working

MifKi (no NX version): sleep still not working

So i will go back to 10.4.6 and have to live with the only sound out problem.

Any other suggestions, to get sleep, WIFI & LAN working with any 8.8.1 kernel?

I am using Toshiba R200. And got to have that "JaS 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3" to boot to Mac.

USB: All seems to work, ext HDD, ext DVD Burner Infact, I boot using ext DVD Burner: LG, to install.

Mouse: Both TouchPad and Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse working.

Infrared: Not working.

Modem: Not working.

Network:

- Atheros AR5005GS Wireless working.

- Marvell Yukon 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller Detected. Not tested. Might be working.

PCMCIA: Not working.

Bluetooth: Not working (YET).

Audio: SoundMax not working(YET).

As for those not working (YET). I could try to get it work, just have to search around. This is my first installation of OSx86. I really love it. Any help will be appreciated. I can't wait to share info too.

Edit. After about 2 hours of reading. Finally, Network is up, guess what? I am using Mac with the newly setup wireless network to type this message. How exciting!!!

Perfect dual boot install (with Windows XP) on a Dell Latitude D620 laptop

My internal wireless and wired ethernet connections wouldn't work, so I took the advice of many on this board any purchased a D-Link DWL-122 wireless USB. With the Ralink drivers, it works PERFECTLY.

I also got my video working by using the Titan kext files (I had to change the device ID - simple fix). I can run 1440x900 resolution. Looks beautiful! Along with the Titan kext files, I needed to change my Bios settings so that my duo core processor looked like one processor. Otherwise, I got really messed up mouse pointer behavior and window behavior. Once I switched the setting in bios, it looks and behaves like it should.

Also running iLife 06 and Office 2004 perfectly. So far, the perfect Mac replica. I'm not daring enough to try the latest 10.4.9 JaS version yet. I think I'll wait a few weeks.

HP ZD7000 series (zd7168cl)

Everything works except for wlan and display. It's an nVidia FX 5600 Go, and it supports QE and CI, but I get black lines every other column of pixels. External display looks fine, just the built in laptop LCD has the issue.

This happens with Titan as well as with np_'s EFI driver.

Any ideas?

JaS 10.4.8 clean install here.

Installed flawlessly. Still working on getting sound, LAN and WLAN working.

HP Pavillion dv2040ca.

Intel Core Duo T2050

1 GB RAM

120 GB SATA (worked perfect with the JaS installer)

Intel 3945 abg wireless (still not working, but I'm not complaining)

Conextant HD Audio (8086:27d8, works on first reboot after kext modification but doesn't work on subsequent reboots)

Intel PRO/100VE LAN (still not working, but haven't really looked at it yet)

Intel GMA950 graphics (perfect, with WXGA resolution properly detected immediately after first reboot)

I need to look into power management, although I have the battery meter working, the battery life in OSx86 is useless, and the CPU is running way too hot all the time.

So far, so good, however. Regardless of what's not working, I have my Digi M-Box 2 running. I just used the Pro Tools LE 7.3 installer I had for my G5 iMac, which is universal binary. The driver works great in OSx86, and I get much better performance with Pro Tools in OSx86 on my HP laptop than I do on my iMac. Frickin' stable, something I can't say about my G5. Great stuff so far, I couldn't be happier!

I have an ASUS F3Jp:

C2D T7200 2.0ghz

2 x 512 DDR2 667

120GB ATA HDD

ATI x1700 video

If I install with JaS Intel 10.4.8 kexts, the install fails with "please reinstall"

It I leave the JaS kexts out, then the machine won't boot: "/usr/standalone/boot file missing"

If I boot using the install DVD and check the folder, mounted at /Volumes/MAC2/usr/standalone/" there is nothing in the folder.

If I copy the contents of the /standalone folder from the DVD, then I get a kernel panic for ACPI drivers not foound.

I'm not enough of a hacker to know how to fix this on my own, but if I can fix by copying and hacking files I am certainly up to that.

BTW, the HDD has three partitions:

1. hidden recovery partition.

2. Windows XP

3. MAC OSX

and the image is burned to a DVD-R (having tried +R and +RW with worse luck)

ASUS F3Jc here

RealTEK ALC861 AUDIO/RealTEK 8138-8111 ethernet/

Intel 3945 ABG/card-reader/Bluetooth

After installing JaS.10.4.8 (dont know what release) i had to deal with this:

REALTEK ALC861 not working yet (but will do soon, i hope)

REALTEK 8138-8111 ethernet - working with rtenicmac_v1.1.0.zip bye Chien Hao. realtek1xxxx installer worked only after installing, the next restart shows errors.

NO WIFI yet

NO CARD READER

Bluetooth seems to work but i cant test it (no other device)

Go7300 worked out of the box after installing with the NATIT drivers included in the dvd. keep getting horizontal lines while the system boots up.

Powermanagement.tar for laptops that i found in this forum (dont remeber where)

I have 4 partitions on disk: backup, xp, osx, data. i use the darwin bootloader.

Same laptop here.

I think the sound issue will never be dealt with. Sorry.

As for the ethernet driver, check my specs below. Mine isn't reporting any errors. I use a diferent driver.

  • 4 weeks later...

I have a Toshiba m35x with the intel pentium M 1.5ghz and 512 mbs of ram. I had a few issues with the original install. I could not install OSX86 with the extended partition with journaling on. Also i do not have wireless working it is an atheros card. Other then that everything seems to be working fine with the exception of some lockup every once and awhile. But if any one has the same model laptop with the wireless working i would really like to know how you got it that way.

  • 2 weeks later...

I tried this install with a Dell Latitude C540. No surprise that I had video problems (after the apple logo, I get dumped to a pixelated or all white screen). I had a hell of a time putting Linux on it too.

The video in this model is an "ATI Mobility M7" card, which as I understand is "like" the 7500 series cards.

I have tried using VESA mode to boot up, but that doesn't work either. Then again, I am not sure that I am putting the options in right. On another site I found a driver that could be installed for Mobility 7500 cards ... but it was a DMG file. Not sure how I can use that to fix a boot issue. Hrm ....

Toshiba M55-S135. Got everything working that I use frequently (Sound, WiFi, etc.). I have an onboard Intel GMA900 and following the multiple guides that are out there, I still have no avail on being able to adjust my resolution, period. Using the driver on the DVD (Which I can see, is broken) gives me a light blue screen after the grey screen with the Apple logo. After changing ownership on the .kexts in /System/Library/SystemConfiguration it won't leave the grey screen. I wind up getting a cursor that I can move around, but it never gets past that. I haven't tried the "paperclip trick" as I'm not exactly fond of running the chance of frying everything. Even with trying 'function + external monitor key', I get nothing.

One other problem I'm having is recording (I'm a DJ). I've got audacity downloaded, and when I try and record a mix, it sounds garbled and laggy like it's having a hard time keeping up with the outputted sound from the mixer. Is this possibly a driver problem?

Other than that, it works wonderfully. I'm still looking around for a battery meter fix that way it can show me time left instead of "calculating..." and a percentage.

Anyone's input on this subject is greatly appreciated. Also, if you need any more info fro me, let me know!

Thank you!!

DELL D620

Can install and boot fine, however during the installation I had to select none for networking otherwise the installation process will certainly get slowed down to death.

No luck on getting wifi and some others to work though (didn't test it thoroughly enough). Back to Ubuntu for now. :(

I have the Latitude D520. I got wi-fi working pretty easily. Do you have the Dell 1390 WLAN Mini-Card?

I'm having extreme problems with my SigmaTel card. No sound at all. Some are getting it out of the Mic jack, but I dont even get that. Any Ideas?

  • 5 weeks later...

I have the Gateway MT6281 as well, but unlike you :) , I am unable to get passed the blue screen. I have the JaS.10.4.8.Intel.SSE3.Only.Install.DVD distro to be exact. I'm able to use the JaS.10.4.6 thru an external USB drive. Wont dual boot for nothin ;) ... If possible, i can use ur help! Thanks!!!

Hey all, I have a Gateway MT6821 and everything works almost 100%.

I had to patch the drivers for the HDA sound and for the on board LAN. All seems to be working except for the Intel 3945 ABG WiFi card.

The install went smooth and I am using the JAS 10.4.8. I had to update to DaemonES 8.8.1 kernel for the audio portion.

The only thing to note so far is that the laptop will not reboot, just shuts down after closing down the OS, and sleep isn't working yet.

As soon as my new internal wifi card gets here, I should have it mostly working. Great laptop and fast too! :D
