Hi Folks,

I have a strange problem with my OS X Rig:

Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L (Rev 1.1)
Geforce 9500GT
Core 2 Duo E6750 (2,66Ghz)
4GB RAM Kingston DDR2 800 Mhz
El Capitan 10.11.5
Clover (rev 3320, Custom DSDT, nv inject)

The System was running great without problems, everything works (except iMessage)
Today I swapped the CPU with a Xeon E5440 (with a LGA771 to 775 adapter sticker) to have a Quad Core instead of the Dual Core.
When the system is booting now, I can't get in the OS X Desktop. When the systems switches from the Apple boot logo to the Desktop / Login Screen
I only see strange graphic errors like in the picture attached.

I tried the following steps:

- Put back in the Core 2 Duo -> Graphic errors gone, all fine
- Put back in the Xeon -> Graphic error there again
(Following steps all with the Xeon installed)
- Booted with nv_disable=1 -> Graphic errors gone, but of course no GPU drivers/acceleration
- Swapped the 9500GT with a 8600GS -> Graphic error still there
- Booted from a El Capitan Installation USB drive (with nv inject) -> Graphic error still there
- Booted from a Yosemite Installation USB drive (with nv inject) -> Graphic error still there
- Booted in the El Capitan Recovery system -> Graphic error still there
- Booted Windows 10 from another hdd -> System runs great and stable (ran Prime95 and Furmark)

Has someone the slightest idea whats going on here? How can the CPU Swap have to do something with the graphics?

What smbios are you using?-could be the new processor conflicts with the old smbios configurations!-suggest you create new smbios settings for your config.plist tailored to your new processor using clover configurator and then replace it in the efi partition - might be a good idea to also clone your hard drive using ccc so you dont lock yourself out of El Capitan entirely

Hi all, thanks for the feedback!

After I discovered that when I boot with "nv_disable=1" the audio and network is also not working, I thought that there is a general problem with the pci(e) bus ... I tried the boot flag npci=0x3000 ... and it works!

So why ever the new CPU need this flag ... the old was running without it.
