I just discovered that the keyboard Volume controls on my HP EliteBook 850 G7 work for increasing, lowering and muting audio with VoodooHDA.kext 4.0 in macOS Tahoe 26.5.1.  The pleasant surprises with VoodooHDA.kext keep coming.  Well done, Devs!

Auto detect will be zero.

Approximately, but the development is not finished yet. If you don't want AMD HDMI audio then you can use version 3.0.5 Traditional. It's perfect.

I haven't yet had a chance to test UniversalHDA.kext.  I feel a loyalty to VoodooHDA.kext which has served me well, so I'd only want to switch to UniversalHDA.kext conditional on the following:

1. Is UniversalHDA.kext the "next version of VoodooHDA.kext" and thus replacing VoodooHDA.kext?
2. Will VoodooHDA.kext eventually be providing support for Intel iGPU HDMI (not just AMD dGPU HDMI)?  If not, does UniversalHDA.kext provide support for Intel iGPU HDMI?

1. AFAIK yes.

2. I think no. AppleGFXHDA provides support for some Intel iGPU but we didn't have attempts to make such audio. Dunno about UniversalHDA.

 

I am busy last week but the VoodooHDA is not finished yet and I planned to continue. The purpose is to make AMD HDMI stable and appropriate for more AMD cards. More than AppleGFXHDA can.

I now have HDAUniversal working well on my HP EliteBook 850 G7 laptop in one Tahoe test Volume thanks to MaLd0n's updated kext here.  I will maintain two Tahoe test volumes so that I can continue to experiment with both VoodooHDA and HDAUniversal.  If either solution eventually enables Intel iGPU HDMI, that would be awesome, but for now, both solutions are outstanding.  Thank you Slice and MaLd0n and any other Devs helping behind the scenes.

Same *_BS.xcodeproject. When you clone the sources then you have to switch branches

Big thanks, @MaLd0n for you sources 4.1. I take from them a minimal part of AMD HDMI hot-plug and it works!!!

My version is 3.6.2. I have a purpose to write only minimal right codes without quirks and workarounds so that it will be the good basis for a new investigations.

Hope my sources are academic.

Thank you, @Slice.  Installation of VoodooHDA.kext 3.6.2 was easy on my HP EliteBook 850 G7 running macOS Tahoe 26.6 Beta (25G5065a):

• Remove other audio kext from /Library/Extensions (in my case, I removed HDAUniversal.kext)
• Set csr-active-config = <03000000> and Reboot
• Modify VoodooHDA.kext/Contents/Info.plist: VoodooHDAEnableVolumeChangeFix = True
• cp -R VoodooHDA.kext /Library/Extensions
• When prompted, Allow VoodooHDA in System Settings > Privacy & Security
• Reboot
• Set csr-active-config = <01000000>

Audio working perfectly.  I don't have AMD HDMI on this hack, so I can't test AMD HDMI/DP audio, but audio quality with my internal speakers is outstanding.

3) reboot

No sound; all you can hear is a rustling noise

Hello everyone, for those who like to make life easier, I've updated VoodooHDA Builder to the new kext and added a button to remove the old VoodooHDA and PrefPane.
