  1. Some users claim that using VoodooHDA they hear loud bump at system start and sound in system comes with noise. Although this can be repaired with existing drivers I propose a version that do this automatically. It started silently and have very clear output. The file is compiled as 32/64 and works from 10.6 up to 10.12. VoodooHDA.kext-289.zip The sources is in my signature. There is a VoodooHDA,prefPane compatible with Sierra VoodooHDA.prefPane-289.zip Now there is a version 2.9.0 by Zenith432. It can work with multichannel sound and play it on 5.1 analog system. w520 cannot get audio to work

Finally frustrated and ready to ask for help after about 5 days of trying to get this working. I had audio on my headphone ports one day, but got greedy and tried a different version of voodoohda (unfortunately didn't back up settings before then) and have been back at nothing working for the last couple days. System: Lenovo w520 with Conexant 20672 OS: iAtkos ML2 -- Mountain Lion 10.8.5 Bootloader: Chimera Boot Kernel Flags: darkwake=0 -v PCIRootUID=1 dart=0 Error: Whenever I click on VoodooHDA prefpane I get "No VoodooHDA Devices Detected" Steps: - I have tried almost every version of VoodooHDA I can find. The two main guides for the w520 (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/273621-guide-os-x-lion-on-thinkpad-w520/ and http://hackintosh-forum.de/wiki/index.php/Lenovo_ThinkPad_W520) both use voodooHDA 2.7.2) . I have also used the DSDT associated with both of those post to no avail. -also tried this voodooHDA (and the appleHDA associated with it) http://www.osx86.net/files/file/810-applehda-and-voodoohda-for-cx20588/ -also tried all the voodooHDA's in ##### -and this one: http://www.osx86.net/files/file/3713-voodoohda-with-working-mic-for-lenovo-u510/ (i'm almost 100% sure this is the one that worked before). -and probably a few more that I don't remember where I got them - I also have tried each with separate DSDTs from here (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/273621-guide-os-x-lion-on-thinkpad-w520/ and http://hackintosh-forum.de/wiki/index.php/Lenovo_ThinkPad_W520) both use voodooHDA 2.7.2) - I have added my device-vendor ID as PrimaryMatch and as the ClassMatch, just as the Classmatch (without primary match row), and leaving Classmatch as same while adding PrimaryMatch Row. -i have used various device ids (see screenshots below to see my devices) { 0x506e14f1, 0x0bea10de, 0x1c208086 <- this is the one that worked } - I have added the HDEF section to my DSDT after trying it without. - I have done every combination of everything above. As I said, this has been a while of just working on the sound. Everything else works great! When the sound did work in my headphones that one time, it sounded great. I just got greedy and wanted my speakers to work since a lot of others seem to have gotten it to work. Each time I install a new version of voodoohda (either by the pkg file or KextWizard to install Kext) I rebuild the cahce, and restart. -Attached are screen shots of my devices in OS X and Windows 7, also my current dsdt, my mesg.txt, current version of voodoohda.kext, current appleHdadisabler.kext, and my current info.plist from current voodoohda.kext. Any help would be great. I can use my system fine without audio because I mainly program and write code, but it just feels weird not to hear the little dings and clicks. thanks for any help! dmesg.txt dsdt.aml.zip AppleHDADisabler.kext.zip VoodooHDA.kext.zip
  3. acer aspire 4738 alc272 i5 480-m (still not found apple had) can someone help me fix my audio issue when my mackintosh still in maverick my voodoohda keep crackle or distort after a while dunno why... but in maverick i found a command that can fix the crackle with a little audio latency in iTunes that is "sudo killall coreaudiod" this command has the same effect as changing audio bitrate in MIDI the problem is, after updating to Yosemite killing core audio causing many app player (iTunes, quick player, etc ) in mac to jam or hang and need to be restarted (in maverick i don't need to do that) in maverick i use some loop script that fix my crackle in every interval of seconds and iTunes still playing peacefully so is there other command to refresh audio setting in mac beside "killall coreaudiod" to fix my crackle and not disturb app player? a simple command to change audio bitrate in terminal would be enough... pls help @@..... kinda noob in mac terminal
  4. Salve a tutti. Qualche idea su come risolvere? Come bootloader uso clover. Grazie anticipatamente. -Claudio
  6. Hello I'm having audio issues with my Dell Vostro 2520's microphone with VoodooHDA The internal microphone isn't detected, yet the microphone audio port is detected, and works. According to Windows and Dell, my laptop has the Cirrus Logic CS4213 codec in it, so if that's important, there it is. I am on Mavericks 10.9.5, since that works the best on this laptop, but would be open to try newer versions if things work well enough. I can provide my DSDT if needed.
  7. Hi everyone. I've successfully installed Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (retail+combo update) on my Acer Aspire 5740G. You can find the kext I have used in this topic: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/282096-solved-post-installation-ml-1082-on-acer-aspire-5740g/ Yesterday I installed voodoohda 2.8.2 from here: http://www.osx86.net...installer.html. The speakers work and the HDMI is recognised (but don't work...) but the microphone doesn't work. Before, with voodoohda 2.7.4, it works perfectly. Any idea for fix this problem? The specs of my PC are in my signature (my sound card is the alc272). I use clover bootloader. Thanks and sorry for my english, -Claudio

    Prosoft Hear with VoodooHDA?

Has anyone been able to get Prosoft Hear to work with VoodooHDA? It seems that alterations via Hear when active do not actually change sound output.

    No mic but have sound

Hello all. I've managed to get the sound working but I can't use my mic. It's plugged in to the pink slot, But when I try to use it, Nothing. Doesn't detect any sound. I am using 0.2.1 voodooHDA. I'm on Lion 10.7.2 with a Gigabyte p35-ds3r motherboard. Any ideas? If I use the updated VooDooHDA I get no sound.
  11. Hi there, I've managed to install Mountain Lion on my ASRock H55M Pro, a pretty smooth experience using this guide. One thing that doesn't work as smoothly is sound. I've installed VoodooHDA and it shows up two output devices (analog and HDMI) and one input. Ideally, I'd like to get sound over the optical out interface, which seems to happen when I select HDMI. Unfortunately, the sound is very distorted. Listening closely, I can hear some of the actual sound through the noise, so it's doing something at least a little bit right. I've tried setting the Format via the Audio MIDI Setup, and while it makes some difference, the result is always heavily distorted. A Google search revealed a bunch of things, like setting some parameters in the VoodooHDA.kext's Info.plist, but everything I've tried thus far did not improve the situation. Nor made it worse, for that matter. If anyone could give me some pointers, I'd be happy to try them.

  15. DISCLAIMER:I have made this guide for people using ATI/AMD GPUs because that is what I have, because as-far-as-I-know AMD uses only one audio codec and because it's what I've tried and know, works. Still, the principle should be just as valid for NVIDIA or even Intel HD cards. My Build: Motherboard: Asus P5G41T-M LX PLUS CPU: Intel E7400, overclocked @ 3.37GHz Memory: 4GB Ram DDR3 1333 Ethernet: Realtek RTL8169 Audio Codec: ALC887-VD Graphics: XFX Radeon HD 5570 1GB DDR3 OS: Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I bought this Asus board a couple months ago and mostly it works very well. Now, when I bought it I looked at the audio codec but I didn't search for actual user experiences getting it to work (my mistake) and to my surprise, upon getting home I quickly realized that AppleHDA and my board just weren't the best of buddies. Flash-forward a couple of weeks and I'm resigned to using VoodooHDA. Now, VoodooHDA doesn't make friends with my HDMI audio so I have to choose between AppleHDA and HDMI or Voodoo and on-board and frankly, that sucks. The solution? Use both at the same time! Now, usually this will result in a kernel panic. Why? Because by default both these kexts try to match devices by their PCI-Class and logically end-up trying to take control of the same devices and that's not good. But, with a few minor edits it's possible to have them both coexist peacefully. Normally, AppleHDA(AppleHDA.kext/Contents/Plugins/AppleHDAController/Contents/Info.plist) will have these lines near the bottom: <key>IOClass</key> <string>AppleHDAController</string> <key>IOPCIClassMatch</key> <string>0x04020000&0xFFFE0000</string> <key>IOProviderClass</key> <string>IOPCIDevice</string> And VoodooHDA.kext/Contents/Info.plist will have these: <key>IOClass</key> <string>VoodooHDADevice</string> <key>IOPCIClassMatch</key> <string>0x04020000&0xFFFE0000</string> <key>IOProviderClass</key> <string>IOPCIDevice</string> See the similarity? Now, if instead you change them to the following (note, the actual values might and probably will change depending on your actual on-board codec and GPU) And Now Voodoo will know to try and match only your on-board audio and AppleHDA will know to try and match only your GPU's audio. Clearly, you're not yet quite done. For this to work, you will need more-or-less the same DSDT edits you would use to enable HDMI audio normally (and if you're using an AMD card like me, you need to be sure your Framebuffer is correct, which I won't go into now) The only departure from the tried-and-true DSDT edit for AMD cards is the following (I'm not entirely sure it is needed but I did it this way and it worked) You must add the layout-id that normally goes in the HDEF section to the HDAU section, like this: Once all that is done, you need to edit AppleHDA proper: Since Mountain Lion supports ATI HDMI audio OOB, you only need to change the layout/pathmap to suit your card. You will find numerous tutorials explaining in details how to do that. For now, what I did was use layout id: 1 and defined it thus: And then in Platforms.xml, I did this: The Node IDs I just get from a codec dump of my HDMI card done in Linux. After all this was done, I deleted all other layouts and Pathmaps (left the DSP section alone, though) and compressed those XMLs again using zlib.pl, just ran MyFix, rebooted and all was working as expected. System Info: http://olarila.com/f...ic.php?f=6&t=63 How to modify your DSDT to add your ATI/AMD GPU: http://rampagedev.wordpress.com/guides/inject-your-amdati-graphic-card-into-a-dsdt/ zlib.pl: http://www.olarila.c...php?f=27&t=1702 I am attaching both my own modified AppleHDA (done as per the instructions here, the binary itself is intact, I just messed with the Info.plists, pathmaps and whatnot) and my IORegistry so you can have fun with it: AppleHDA_HDMI.kext.zip Tiamat_Voodoo_AppleHDA.ioreg.zip
  16. Hello, I decided to try the public beta of OSX Yosemite, after a somewhat lengthy installation I find myself in my new system where almost all works perfectly kext. Everything except the sound, I find several kext designed to Yosemite but none works. So I'm asking for your help to successfully run my chipset (ALC887) I am looking for preferably a solution via VoodooHDA (if possible w/ surround but I dream a little), but I am willing to test any solutions that work. Thanks in advance
  17. Ok..I have an HP Envy 15t-j000 touchsmart quad edition laptop with Beats Audio. I am able to listen to sound natively using the AppleHDA kext. My problem is that i am able to listen to sound through the two bottom speakers but my two built-in top speakers and subwoofer do not work. I have searched everywhere, especially these forums for a solution and cannot find one. Could someone please guide me in the right direction to get these speakers and subwoofer working, rather it be natively or through voodoohda? 18. My alc892 audio has an issue. My Motherboard model is ASROCK b350 K4 Gaming. I installed voodooHDA 2.9 and it works. Alc892 has been successfully recognized. But there is nothing like 5.1 or 7.1(green rear) in the audio output. There is only Headphone(green front) output. So I can only use headphones via the front audio output jacks of my chassis, but cannot use my speakers via the rear audio output jacks(the green one). Please help me. Any reply will be appreciated. Forgive me for my poor ENGLISH....
  20. please help!! my acer aspire 4738 has successfully install maverick 10.9 in it i already got every single thing working in it except the audio part. i thought the ethernet and wifi parts is the hardest but i got them running already. i used voodoohda.kext to run the audio and it is working the audio device detect my speaker atapi but not my speaker HDMI so the booting sound and the shutdown sound doesn't work but the normal sound like iTunes or video file is working. BUT after like a 30 minutes, the audio will suddenly glitching and stop. and then if u play the song again the audio would be as buggy as hell and i must re-set the audio frequency again in MIDI to restore it every-time. is there a fix for this. my laptop is acer aspire 4738 with sound card realtek alc272 if u need more specified information just tell me sorry for bad english
  21. I recently updated my hackintosh to 10.8.5 and installed voodoohda.kext to get audio working until someone gets around to make an applehda.kext that works with my Asus P6T deluxe V2 mb. After the updates my computer worked fine, except for longer boot time and occasional kernel panics when booting, which are issues I guess are to be expected when using voodoohda. But then it went into sleep mode and was unresponsive until I had depowered and restarted it. Following this I haven't been able to get my front panel audio jack working again. Neither on the osx or the windows 7 installation that i run. The computer seems to detect when I connect a headset to the front audio jack but whatever I do I can't get it to play any sound through it. I don't even get the click, you usually hear when connecting a headset. The back panel audio jacks work the same as before. I have tried fixing it by reseting and reconfiguring CMOS, but with no success. Can anyone help me to understand what might have happened? Does anyone have suggestions on how it might be fixed?
  22. I have ALC 3241 Codec, using VoodooHDA I made sound work. The volume is very quiet, and I've tried modifying the Info.plist and setting the half volume fix line to "true". Nothing changes. Any suggestions?
  23. So I have an HP Envy Notebook (15t-q400) which features two Band & Olufsen speakers (tweeters) and one subwoofer - the audio codec used is the ALC290 (aka the ALC 3241). I'm running on Mojave. So far I've tried AppleALC with Lilu and have no luck - the audio plays through the headphones - although very poorly - but not the external speakers at all, and I've tried everything short of writing my own XML file for it. So I've decided to go for using the VoodooHDA kext. While VoodooHDA sees my devices immediately, they are strangely configured, and I cannot use the subwoofer or even see it listed as a device. This is my main problem. As I'm aware the proper configuration of the laptop is: Three speakers - one left, one right, and one subwoofer module One 3.5mm headphone jack An internal microphone for the webcam (this is one I'm not sure about, I don't know if it is two separate microphones or one as there are two holes in the display chasis) In my devices while using the default VoodooHDA kext, I have Output: Speaker (Analogue) - Type= Apple speaker port <--- only tweeters work Headphones (Back Right) - Type= Headphone Port <--- this seems to work well Input: Microphone (Black Right) - Type: Microphone Port <---- this works a little, sounds like it's muffled, not from the webcam Microphone (ATAPI) - Type: Microphone Port <--- this works well, is definitely the webcam microphone Here is my Pin Config (with disabled devices not ignored as I think the subwoofer is one of those devices): Here is my Pin Config for the photo above (disabled devices NOT ignored, fix not applied). 01371c00 01371d00 01371e00 01371f40 01871c10 01871d01 01871e17 01871f90 01a71c20 01a71d10 01a71ea1 01a71f04 01d71c2d 01d71d81 01d71e75 01d71f40 01271c30 01271d01 01271ea3 01271f99 01571c40 01571d10 01571e21 01571f04 01471cf0 01471d11 01471e11 01471f41 01671cf0 01671d11 01671e11 01671f41 01771cf0 01771d11 01771e11 01771f41 01971cf0 01971d11 01971e11 01971f41 01b71cf0 01b71d11 01b71e11 01b71f41 01e71cf0 01e71d11 01e71e11 01e71f41 Here is my Pin Config for the photo above (disabled devices ignored, fix not applied): 01871c10 01871d01 01871e17 01871f90 01a71c20 01a71d10 01a71ea1 01a71f04 01271c30 01271d01 01271ea3 01271f99 01571c40 01571d10 01571e21 01571f04 I have been attempting to add the subwoofer as a node in the Info.plist of VoodooHDA but can't seem to get it to work (and frankly I'm not sure which device it is!) . I've tried adding both NID 19 and 20 into my Info.plist file for VoodooHDA but neither have done any good. Am I supposed to add the NID and PinDefault to the Info.plist AFTER Pin Configurator's fix? I was under the impression this only helped with a patched AppleHDA which VoodooHDA overwrites. Thanks for all the help, I hope I conveyed this clearly! I've attached my codec dump as well. dumpcodec.rtf
