Trip Hop Mop
After switching to clover using 14,2. I've been experiencing some random KP's that come out of nowhere. After looking into it I think it may be caused by the process "Google Chrome Helper". (Chrome is usually running when I experience the shutdown). Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction to fix this ? Thanks! Trip Hop Mop
It is better to do without Google Chrome or even remove Google Chrome. It consumes too many CPU resources, especially when are opened many pages, better to use Safari, opera or a lean web browser such as Chromium.app (SRWare Iron). It will be hard to swap as i have tried Safari and the extensions I use don't seem to run as well as they do on chrome, I'll have to check again to see if things have improved. Chromium might be an interesting browser to try, i'll look into that one. Moreover, you have a problem with a plugin from the FakeSMC.kext => ACPISensors check if your FakeSMC.kext is a newer version, or delete => FakeSMC.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ACPISensors, repair the permissions and renew the cache and start again ... I got the FakeSMC + Plugin kexts from HWSensors site. Would you know of a better place to get a copy ? There seems to be many sites that host a copy of FakeSMC. Also regarding the ACPISensors. What's its role in HWMonitor ? If it's the fan speed, I would need to keep it installed since my BIOS cant seem to manage my CPU fan speed correctly. Trip Hop Mop
download the driver from rehabman's page https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-fakesmc-kozlek/downloads and then remove any plugins, which are not suitable for your hardware. Thanks! Looks like I'm not getting KP's from FakeSMC anymore. I installed RenabMans copy and put them in the S/L/E rather than Clovers kext folder. Seems to work well. I still was getting random KP's from random apps and kexts annoyingly but the FakeSMC KP at boot/shutdown are no more. After digging around I believe my RAM was the cause of the random KP's. Just switched them around and made sure they are secured in and haven't had a KP yet. I also changed Chromes flash settings to Click to play just for safety as i hear its a common problem among real macs All i have to do now is try and get PM/Speedstep working properly and get USB3.0 running at 3.0 speeds and i'll be a happy camper Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/314382-hack-is-randomly-shutting-down/#findComment-2268371 Share on other sites
