Dannydeman
Tonight I want to try to upgrade to Sierra from the Appstore. I've had previous success with updating through the appstore because my hardware is very compatible with OSX it seems. First I will update to the latest clover of course. I have a GA-H87N-WIFI mainboard with a Intel HD4600 videochip. I use the BCM94352HMB chip for Bluetooth & Wifi. The Wifi and Bluetooth are my main concern. Will it keep working? Or do I need to fix some stuff after the upgrade process?
Dannydeman
It'll keep working, with the same patches. But I would strongly suggest you retain your existing EC installation as is and make a new dedicated Sierra installation on a different partition instead of an "upgrade". If you screw your Sierra installation, at least you still have your existing working EC build at hand... I always run Carbon Copy Cloner before I do crazy stuff
Ztardust
I always run Carbon Copy Cloner before I do crazy stuff Hey... how did the upgrade process go? I am assuming it didn't work out since you didn't follow this post up... what kind of problems did you run into?
tarasis
I've just gone through this (just using the Apple installer) and it mostly went fine; as long as you count only being able to use "Safe Mode" fine Initially post install boot wouldn't work as little snitch was broken and messing up APN (was complaining about IPv6 and not able to post a notification - sadly I didn't grab a screen shot to get the exact message). I booted into Safe mode, un-installed little snitch and rebooted again. This time during boot there is a message about busy timeout for IOHDACodecFunction. I think this is because there is a patch in my Clover config, but I can't mount the EFI partition in safe mode (something mounts, but it isn't my real EFI partition). Will have to boot into Windows or the clone of ElCap I have in the morning and edit the config.
