so i had the latest version installed:

and the fix was still applied:

However, i applied the fix again and rebooted and its worked fine again...

only other thing i changed was that in the toolbar at the top i selected nvidia rather than OSX drivers last time, is it a case of forcing NV with the bootup and then leaving OSX ticket in the actual OS?

Ill reboot now and see if its fine or if im going to have to boot nv_disable and re do the patch and reboot every single time...

Make sure your SIP is disabled.

and add nvda_drv=1

whats SIP sorry?

and yes i always have nvda_drv=1 when im not using nv_disable.

For reference i just managed to reboot no issues having left OS X Default Graphics set in the OS rather than cahnging it to Web Driver if that would have anything to do with it?

Hi Dwarfy

Just a quick question about agdpfix. Is it the same objective as pike's fix https://pikeralpha.wordpress.com/2015/11/23/patching-applegraphicsdevicepolicy-kext/ ?

Pike's patch sometimes doesn't work, so Shilohhh made an app for it. It will turn configs to none in the AGDP plist, for iMac 15/17 SMBIOS and Mac Pro 6,1 SMBIOS.

SIP = system integrity protection

Well, best to use Web drivers.

Disabled SIP via my post above, restarted and I have the same black screen and cursor problem again...

I can't boot nv_disable now to sort it, this is my -v I assume the SIP edit broke more stuff...

EDIT: I just tried 3 more times and finally NV_disable let me boot, so im back to the NV_disable boot with no idea where to go from here!

Might only be a cache problem if you are just having a random bootup issue

is there a way to resolve that? i thinkl you are right as nv_disable always boots after 3 failed boot and power cycles.

As for the black screen and cursor on enabling nvidia drivers, im still none the wiser, it seems like adgpfix only works temporarily?

To clarify for anyone who can help. the pattern is this:

1.Boot up

2.disable nv

3.fails

4.restart and disable nv

5.fails

6.restart disable nv

7.boots to desktop disabled nv

8.run adgpfix - patches - reboot

9.boots perfectly with nv enabled no issues

10.shutdown/restart (next power on)

11.black screen with cursor that moves

12.power off and back on

13.boot disabled nv x3

14.boots to desktop

15.run adgpfix - reboot

16.works fine again

repeat over and over...

It runs in the background. You can restart now

Ah i closed the terminal after i typed it in, did it need to stay open if you say background?

EDIT: I just restarted and it loaded in smoothly without an issue this time! fingers crossed its a permanent thing

Thanks guys!

Hi there,

I dropped my SSDT file into my EFI and rebooted, but I still have no onboard sound any idea how to solve that? As i was lead to believe SDST would

Cheers!

Lol SSDT is not for sound. hehe. I suggest you read up on CloverALC and AppleALC. Keep it vanilla.

Ah ok my mistake i assumed as you said it was to do with hardware it would identify the MoBo features.

I dropped the SSDT in anyway and all seems ok.

I ended up installing voodoo audio and that recognised my motherboards sound and got it working, so all seems ok for now

SSDT is for CPU PM, DSDT is for HW in general.

And VoodooHDA is fine. :)

Ah ok i got the two mixed up, i think i need to do a DSDT as even using voodoo, my mac keeps changing my sample rate in audio/midi settings whenever i open music production software rather than sticking at 44.1 it drops to 32

Don't use voodoo, use AppleALC or CloverALC.

Why would this matter when i get the issue using a USB audio interface as well?

I attempted to get AppleALC working, the guide said to edit my plist.config with the codec of my mobo which I did, and then add the apple kext to the efi kext folder under the 'other' folder...now my computer can't boot...how can I undo this? Cheers
