Hello Mac users!

For install an new OS version on your Mac, you have 2 options:

1 - Run the .app and select a new partition (or your current partition) and install it,  and you'll get or an dual boot, or your current OS will be upgraded, keeping your apps intact.

2 - Erase your current OS, and install the new OS from scratch in your HDD/SSD.

What you'll need?

  • macOS Sierra donwloaded from App Store (or from your Developer Center with your AppleID) in your Applications folder.
  • An USB stick - 16GB or larger.

The steps:

With your USB stick plugged, rename it for "USB" using Disk Utility.

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/SierraBootInstall --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sierra.app --nointeraction &&say Done

After the process has done, you'll see a message like this:

“Erasing Disk: 0%… 10%… 20%… 30%…100%…
Copying installer files to disk…
Copy complete.
Making disk bootable…
Copying boot files…
Copy complete.

Reboot your Mac with USB stick plugged, and hold "Option" key. You'll see the option for choose what device will boot up, and choose the "USB" device.

You'll see the "macOS (or OS X) Utilities" options, and choose Disk Utility:

In Disk Utility window, erase your current OS - Go to "Erase" button.

Choose the partiton name that you want.

Format as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)", and in Scheme select: GUID Partition Table.

Wait the process finish, and done, you have a clean install of your macOS.

Is a Beta version, don't use it as your current OS.

When Apple launch the final version of the macOS, the USB stick process will be the same, in the future, we need just change the .app name in the Terminal's command.

You need to use the macOS Sierra Patcher Tool. After install, boot back into USB and run the post install and choose your Mac build and it will put the patches in place so you don't get the reboot
