jek20
Hi, I'm trying to install El Capitan 10.11.2 beta on my PC with Clover, but when it's booting for installation, after a half loading bar, stop sign appearing, in -v mode, this is after "Still waiting root devices". I tried many ways to avoid it, like changing USB ports and using USB 2.0 stick, cpus=1 -f -x flags, but it's still the same. I used this program to make USB installer. Has anyone else have the same problem? vusun123
Your mistake is using Chameleon or Enoch as the bootloader, use Clover instead. And don't Drop OEM 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/309382-stop-sign-after-still-waiting-root-device-error-on-skylake-6600k-and-asus-z170-p-d3/#findComment-2188306 Share on other sites

TheRacerMaster
El Capitan has full Skylake support, but you need to disable the IOAPIC entries in your BIOS. vusun123
I'm sorry but I disagree with your advice. Cordially ErmaC I don't have any problem wwith using Enoch on older system, but this is Skylake we are talking about here. For safety measure my opinion is using Clover Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/309382-stop-sign-after-still-waiting-root-device-error-on-skylake-6600k-and-asus-z170-p-d3/#findComment-2188815 Share on other sites

jek20
Right before "Still waiting for root device" it says "Missing Bluetooth controller transport!" , is that the problem ? mklein49
Right before "Still waiting for root device" it says "Missing Bluetooth controller transport!" , is that the problem ? I'm having the same issue with the same board...Receive "Missing Bluetooth controller transport!" error followed by a long pause (10's of seconds), followed by the "Still waiting for root device" which also renders the graphics hard to read. I have updated to the beta Gigabyte bios and have disabled the IOAPIC entries. I have tried that in conjunction with Pike's famed AppleAPIC patch and each independently. In all cases, the result was the same..."Still waiting for root device." I have an installer created on a 16GB USB 3.0 stick with clover and plugged into a USB 3.0 port on the motherboard. I also have a SATA SSD connected and a NVMe SSD connected to a m.2 port. My processor is the i7-6700k Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/309382-stop-sign-after-still-waiting-root-device-error-on-skylake-6600k-and-asus-z170-p-d3/#findComment-2189034 Share on other sites
mklein49
Right before "Still waiting for root device" it says "Missing Bluetooth controller transport!" , is that the problem ? I finally got passed the "Still waiting for root device" message by plugging my USB installer into a different USB port. I chose one of the USB 2.0 headers connected to my case as opposed to the USB 3.0 port on the motherboard. I was able to get the OS installed after making that change. jek20
I changed motherboard to Gigabyte Z170-HD3 DDR3 and continue to a new topic here Maybe the solution for Gigabyte Z170-HD3 DDR3 is the same for ASUS Z170-P D3 too. ClemaX
This is probably due to the a problem with the new USB filtering (the same as for usb3), I had to test on other ports. The missing bluetooth thing isn't relevant, it is just a log entry that comes after a while when you have no bluetooth card.
