I realized there was an update to Clover (r3280) compatible with i7-6700K CPUs. So I downloaded it and created an El Capitan installer USB.

I was able to use it in UEFI mode and see the installer after reboot. I also put -v in the args

However, after I select "install El Capitan from USB", I see just a line of + signs (like : "++++++++++++++++++++++++++++" ) and the screen halts.

The mother board is Gigabyte Z170 UD5 and I also had a GTX 970 GPU (which I think is not the reason since I also tried NV_disable = 1). I tried with and without OSXAptioFixDrv, the result is the same except when with OSXAptioFixDrv, I can see additional lines like "Start overriding for .IABootFiles\boot.eft; Using reloc block: no, hibernate wake: no " and it will reboot after the "+" sign.

So, what does this "+++++++++++++++++++++" mean on the screen and why the system halts? Anything I need to change in the .config or clover? Is it currently compatible with Z170 Mobos?

Thanks

Getting OS X to work on Skylake is not impossible, but not easy. I haven't managed it yet.

I hate this error.

I can't answer either of your questions. All I can tell you is that (literally) on same days, I'm unable to get past this screen no matter how many times I try, and on other days, I'm always able to get passed it. What is changing? I have no idea. Maybe there's some clover configuration option I'm setting differently when I set up the USB drive, but I can't think of what it would be.

I know that isn't helpful :(. If you ever do get it to work, and you can figure out what you changed to make it happen, please do let me know.

Edit: Just for the heck of it, try this config.plist and see what happens. It's the exact config that I was using last night, and I didn't run into the error then.

Well, you need to use FakeCPUID. Try to use "0x00306F2" and tick "Kernel Haswell-E or "0x00306C3" and tick "Kernel PM".

But, i think you will get "Still Waiting for root device" because USB Problem (I use PCI to USB 2.0 with NEC Chipset to solve this problem). And after install it to your harddrive, you will still get "Still Waiting for Root Device" because Internal Sata Problem (and i use PCIe to Sata with ASmedia chipset AS1062 to solve this problem)

Until now, i don't have solution for USB 3.0 and Internal Sata. My USB 3.0 and Internal Sata are Intel chipset.

You can see my step here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308707-fresh-install-from-usb-installer-el-capitan-10111-beta-build-15b38b-on-skylake-i7-6700-gigabyte-z170-hd3/ :D

Sorry for my bad english, cheers
