marvelloard
Hi, I didn't buy my notebook Acer Travelmate B115-M-42RQ to make it a hackintosh. Linux is running pretty neat on it. But I'm curious on how well OS X (Yosemite or Mavericks) would perform on this machine and if I can get it to work at all. -Pentium N3530 QuadCore (needs patched kernel because of unsupported CPU?) -4GB RAM -Intel HD graphics (not sure which one precisely) Can anyone comment on this kind of hardware? And how would I install in this case? (I've recently done only vanilla installs) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/307249-acer-travelmate-b115-m-41rq-compatibility/ Share on other sites
Allan
Even if you use a patched Kernel for your CPU, you won't get OS X working properly on this machine. This is because your Intel HD, is not supported. marvelloard
Thank you! I never really intended to install OS X on this particular machine, I bought it as a cheap notebook for surfing and checking mails etc.. while traveling. And it does a pretty good job running elementary OS (maybe you should check it out, it's Ubuntu based but has a more polished, OS X-like desktop). Fantastic battery life by the way. And completely quiet (no fan, swapped HDD for SSD). I was just curious Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/307249-acer-travelmate-b115-m-41rq-compatibility/#findComment-2154764 Share on other sites

But i prefer Linux Mint 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/307249-acer-travelmate-b115-m-41rq-compatibility/#findComment-2154765 Share on other sites
