Hi all,

 

I'm trying to install yosemite on my Asus N551JM-CN201H, but I'm stuck at the beginning.

 

The specs are:

i7 4710hq

16 gb ram

intel hd graphics 4600

gtx 860m 4gb

1 tb hard disk

 

I've tried with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] with laptop support, but it shows up apple logo for less than one second, than reboot (even in verbose mode or with other boot flags). I've tried with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] without laptop support, but it does the same thing.

 

Now i'm trying with clover, after installing yosemite on the usb using terminal. This time I have no reboots, but I'm stuck at the apple logo with progress bar (that doesn't fills). In verbose mode it says that it's waiting for the atheros kext and it doesn't go any further.

 

Is impossible to install a hackintosh on this laptop or I can't install yosemite, but maybe mavericks?

Graphics issue is my guess, search for a way to disable Nvidia Optimus using Clover (It's possible, i always do this by dsdt)

Or remove the Nvidia kexts from the installation media/HDD in either single user mode or by terminal. 

 

Don't know the exact commands or setup, i can have a look this weekend if needed, 13 hour shifts atm.

Changing the plist file worked! But now I have another problem  :rofl:

 

It tells me to connect bluetooth mouse and keyboard. I solved the mouse issue connecting a usb one, but I don't have a keyboard to use atm and it doesn't recognize the laptop keyboard. Is there a way or a boot flag to force it to use it?

Other things that don't work:

  • audio
  • card reader (but it's not so important)
  • pci; that makes the ethernet card to doesn't work too

I think that the nvidia graphic card doesn't work at all, because of the pci issue. In fact I can see it in system information, but it shows up as "NVIDIA Chip Model" and sometimes (for example after login or when I try to use the integrated camera in photo boot) the screen flickers.

 

If I can tomorrow (or for sure in the weekend) I'll do a deep check to see what is working and what not.

Also, the best thing is to follow Ubuntu guieds with LiveUSB to gather your hardware info. Follow also tuts from this forum (i.e http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/forum/45-tutorials-the-genius-bar/) or Google :)

The latest realtek kext from rehabman's github repository solved the ethernet issue (now the card is visible and working). For every other things, I've made some screenshot from ubuntu live usb. Anyway keyboard and trackpad doesn't work well too (they just have basic functions).

I've tried some kexts and [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] too (I know you don't support it, but I didn't know what else to do) and nothing worked. It's impossibile to find any informations about hackintosh on this laptop (and in general too, because it's pretty recent). So, I'm starting to think that we can't do that yet.  :(

 

Tell me if you have any ideas or I will reinstall windows, because I need this computer to work.

Back to your topic. I won't be able to connet to the internet. I was out since friday.

 

1. If you made fresh instal & have ethernet working it is good to make DSDT patches (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298027-guide-aio-guides-for-hackintosh/?do=findComment&comment=2027276 & http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298027-guide-aio-guides-for-hackintosh/?do=findComment&comment=2028280)

 

2. For getting info about audio I meant this command in Ubuntu's terminal (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting)

 

3. For all ather things I would appreciate for DPCI manager print screen. (PCI List)

 

At the end, god advice, building hackintosh requier a lot of patience :)

if you use clover as bootloader these are the files from my clover config. Patched.zip contain the dsdt and ssdt files with working brightness control, battery indicator, power supply, usb patches, and power management, with these my system sleep and wake with no issues. the content has to be unpacked on EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched

kexts.zip contain the voodoo ps2 and the other kexts for keyboard light,ethernet and fn keys, has to be unpacked on EFI/Clover/Kexts

i added my config.plist, necessary to work with the patched dsdt and ssdt files, you cannot use it straight on yours becasue it contain the uuids of my partitions, so it will not display boot options for you, then i have erased some smbios and s/n informations,maybe use it only as guideline.

with this laptop you can have a nearly perfect macbook pro, but you have to change the wifi card because the atheros+bluetooth isn't supported and there is no hope for the nvidia card, only intel works.

Audio works flawlessy with voodooHDA (just google for it) and your yosemite installation must be absolutely vanilla, so if you have used patched kexts on S/L/E you have to revert the original.

All files on kexts.zip aren't mine, i just collected them on the net

Sorry guys, but I was kind of busy. I've had to format the pc because I needed it to work without issues, so I can't try this things anymore. Anyway thank you very much for all the help and if you need something to make a guide for this laptop, I can help you with the first part.

thanks for sharing but it doesn't work on my G551J ROG it have the same configuration. Audio works fine with patch Alc668 layout 3

 

what don't work? i told to not use the config.plist as it is because it can't work on different laptops, you have to build a config.plist suitable for yours using this one as guide. Then if the bios is the same on the G551 (mine is N551 v.204) and the hardware comparable i don't see how it can't work. is your cpu a i7 4710HQ? if it different maybe the SSDT tables containing the pstates etc don't work

yes G551J have Processeur Intel® Core™ i7-4710HQ (2,5 GHz)

newest bios for g551j is 204 do you think it compatible with yours?

i think like yours the both configuration is almost the same but i replace with all file you attached after boot the main display have glitches all screen so hd 4600 doesn't work. I put laptop asleep and after wakeup it works fine

i redid all by myself there were not better there is glitches at menu at top and when open new window it have glitches.

i was tired after 5h test another way patch for hd4600. i watched un film my laptop has been into hibernate mode I have done everything to make it wake up but nothing happen. i hold on power button in 5minus it turn on again it boot to mac os very smoothly no more glitches now it works like a charm
