SimonLL
Using Clover in UEFI mode, I can't use my laptop with the proper SMBIOS. I suspect it is causing my CPU to always be in Turbo mode and overheating (70 idle). The CPU won't go below multiplier x26. I would very much like to fix that. I have generated SSDT, have tried Clover generating P States & C States, nothing changes. The laptop is a Thinkpad W520, i7 Sandy Bridge with Nvidia 1000m Graphics running 10.9.3. I do use Nvidia injection in Clover. If I use the proper SMBIOS: MacBookPro8,2, the boot process completes, but it goes to a black screen and stays there. Same for MacBookPro8,1. MacPro5,1 causes kernel panic. The only SMBIOS I found working is iMac13,2. Any idea how I could get clover to boot the correct SMBIOS? Thanks! SimonLL
I have tried MBP9,2 and 9,1 and it still turns the screen off at login.
styrian
Hello SimonLL! MBP 8,2 is a device with ATI gfx. Stay at this SMB and try to follow the sence of the linked post: http://www.insanelym...reen/?p=2053705 Have fun.
Allan
Those are Ivy Bridge laptops are they not? Is not a problem you use another SMBios even if is for Sandy/Ivy/Haswell, what matters is whether it will work or not.
SimonLL
Thanks for the help. I managed to boot fine with MBP9,1 SMBIOS. It doesn't seem to be using a lot of states, HWsensor reports only x8, x24, x28, x30, x32 I think I found the reason why it wasn't using x8 at all before. Spotlight was always trying to index my Mounted EFI partition and my ExFAT Hard Drive. I think it was driving the CPU in turbo mode non-stop which caused overheating. I excluded thes drives from spotlight and now the cpu goes down to x8 when I'm not working it (reading this forum for example) which it did not before. Thanks a lot for the knowledge. Allan
Hmm. 33, 34 and 35 is missing. Try run some "hard" app, like Geekbench/NovaBench, or watch a right video resolution in YouTube.
SimonLL
The cpu doesn't seem to go in Turbo Mode. Running Cinebench, it will not go above x25 @ 2.48Ghz. I suspect it is not going higher because of temps. All cores showed 96-98 degrees @ x25 in HWMonitor. It actually had to go down to x23 midway into the test. I re pasted the CPU and GPU with AC Silver 5 last year and the fan is clean. There are 2 models of fan/heatsink for this laptop, I might try to buy the other one. I don't need turbo so much, because when I render, I usually allow more than enough time, but it could be nice. I'm just glad it's not running at x30 all the time anymore. SimonLL
Thank you! Here they are. I've put the .dsl and .aml. Allan
Hmm. The SSDT is right, send me your config.plist (if use Clover) or boot.plist (if use Chameleon).
SimonLL
Thanks, while you're on it, I'm using Clover r2721, if I try to update it to the most recent 3128, the boot gets stuck on waiting for DSMOS. I have put all the kexts back in 10.9 folder including the matching version of FakeSMC, but the boot won't pass waiting for DSMOS. So for the time being, I reverted back to 2721 because I on an important project at the moment and can't afford down time on the machine. Thanks for taking a look! SimonLL
that is the one. I'm not using 3128 since it won't boot.
