skredii Posted October 14, 2006 Share Posted October 14, 2006 try to boot off the DVD with the options: -v -x (you need to press F8 then enter -v -x at prompt) Â And report the errors if any. Â The -v option is for verbose mode. And the -x option is safe boot. Try hitting F8 and type "platform=X86PC", or try messing with some ACPI related things in your BIOS. Before you start trying to modify your BIOS settings, try typing "platform=X86PC" (as i already said before and without quotes)! This will set Darwin for X86PC environment. Enter the BIOS setup by pressing "DEL" while booting. 2. Go to "Power Management SETUP". 3. Scroll down to "ACPI Aware O/S". 4. Using the "Page Up/Page Down" set to "No". 5. Save and Exit. I tried disabling ACPI in my bios, but when i boot, it says something along the lines of Windows did not shut down properly, and gives the choice of booting from the last know state, safe mode, or start windows normally, and none of them work, so i have to enable ACPI in the bios again... >.> Any help? EDIT: Ok, I have found a tut on disabling ACPI completely, restarting computer now to see if it works. Deleting the /System/Library/Extensions/IOPCCard.kext works for Intel Core Duo with the ACPI kernel panic. Â note: On version 10.4.8 with 8.8.1 kernel. If not, try single user mode ( -s) if your lucky, it will start in single user mode, most of the time it won't. If core duo, disabling 1 core, should do the trick aswell. I still haven't installed it yet, I get to the APCI part (or whatever its called...) and I can't get passed it. I also dont know how to disable a core, I checked all over my bios...
