rinoaa52r
I have OSX installed on my HDD but using usb flash drive for boot loader. My question is what would happen if the flash drive were to get removed/disconnected from the comp after os is running? also if anyone has any ideas on how to get it to boot off the hdd I would be grateful. Asus B85-plus MB with 500gb 4k os drive. all I get when I try to directly boot it after installing chameleon is a blank screen. clover just locks up after selecting hd to boot from. Gringo Vermelho
I doubt anything will happen if you remove the flash drive. Everything that's on there is either only important during boot, or, once the OS is running, loaded into memory....why don't you try it and see? There's a trick where you use dd on Linux (you can use a live DVD or flash drive) to either prepare, or install Chameleon on, a 4k hard drive. Or something. I don't remember. There are posts around here somewhere with the details. I've edited the title of your topic to better reflect your issue, hopefully this will attract the attention of someone who knows how you do that. Consider the title next time you post instead of putting volunteer forum staff to work lol
MacUser2525
There's a trick where you use dd on Linux (you can use a live DVD or flash drive) to either prepare, or install Chameleon on, a 4k hard drive. Or something. I don't remember. You can use OS X for the dd command simply boot the installer and use Terminal from its Utilities menu to manually install Chameleon never had a problem with a 4k drive with Clover. The OP will need to install Pacifist to extract the need files from the /usr/standalone/i386 directory of the Chameleon installer and copy them to the OS X install USB most likely so they will be available for use, you will also need the fdisk440 binary from the installer forget whether it is in the i386 or some other directorty ATM. Searching on "boot0 error Chameleon" will get the commands needed. Edit: the fdisk440 is only needed if the partition needs to be set to active. JrCs
For Clover, use the installer. It take 4k sectors into account.
jamiethemorris
Probably the reason Clover locked up is due to improper installation, make sure you have the correct .efi drivers install and the correct SATA option (you might need to use BIOSBlockIO)
jamaly
Install Clover to your EFI partition and make sure it has the same or similar settings in config as your flash drive. Would be nice if you booted in verbose and told us what clover was getting stuck on when it locks up...
