Cpu management issue

19 posts in this topic

Recommended Posts

I'm running mavericks on an HP Laptop with Intel core i5-2450m, but as HWMonitor shows, my CPU only works on the minimum(792Mhz) or at the maximum(2,49 Ghz) power.

I already tried to patch AICPM and installed the i5 SSDT, which causes"P-STATE STEPPER ERROR 18".

Even if I fixed It following this guide:

http://olarila.com/f...php?f=26&t=1649 ,

I still can't fix the power management issue.

Thanks for helping me.

I changed SMbios and ran that in terminal but nothing changed.

Now HWmonitor shows some different values, but I think the issue is still there.

I am using chameleon bootloader(i tried to install clover once but i got boot0 error)attachicon.gifScreen Shot 2014-04-22 at 20.57.00 1.png

for boot0 error: try this: http://olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1676

after that, check your states: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/295587-power-management-for-sandyivy-bridgehaswell-cpus/?p=2003480

Hello

Take a read in here please: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/295587-power-management-for-sandyivy-bridgehaswell-cpus/

Try use iMac 12,1/2 and after MacPro 3,1... maybe you can get more than 2 states... My CPU by exemple only work with MacBookPro 8,1 to get 8 states even my CPU being Desktop.

Thank you so much man, after following the guide this is HWmonitor.

Do you think I can do anything else to have more states?

Hello

Before change everuthing, use this app to see how much states you have: http://sourceforge.net/projects/dpcimanager/

OBS: This app doens't work in 10.9.2 and high

I good ideia is go testing SMbioses that is compatible with Sandy Bridge... ;)

No, this is a error that happen in HDD with 4k sector... Just follow the guide and enjoy!

Good Luck man!

Alright, according to dpcimanager I have 7 states, great!

I followed the guide to install clover, and now there isn't the error anymore, but now an HP boot screen appears.

What shell I do now?(if I press continue nothing happens)

Hello

Wait a minute... How did you get 7 states if you don't have any bootloader? because like you said you gonna install Clover...

That guide i gave to you is only for Chameleon, because Clover generate P and C States automaticaly, but sometimes it doens't generate TDP

If you want use chameleon, i advice this guide to you: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/295630-instala%C3%A7%C3%A3o-e-configura%C3%A7%C3%A3o-do-chameleon-bootloader/

translate please...

but now an HP boot screen appears.

This screen sometimes appear if you press button del try use another button to choose disk boot.

You're right, I did not explain myself

I've been using chameleon bootloader since always, but even if I tried any possible fixes, I have always had the"errors ecountred while starting up the computer" (which is annoying beacuse you have to wait 5 seconds and then it boots up normally) issue.

That's why I wanted to switch to clover.

Anyway, I checked the BIOS. In the  UEFI BOOT ORDER options, there is not "HARD DRIVE", but usb, floppy and BOOT OS MANAGER.

So I guess the screen I see is beacuse my pc can not boot in uefi mode(?)

Hello

So try uncheck or check but give more than 5 seconds, and remember, chameleon just work in boot_legacy not in UEFI mode

Try select BOOT OS MANAGER and then chosse your HDD with OSX, i have a boot menager and i like it.

If your Mobo support UEFI, it'll boot with UEFI anyway, don't worries... But like i said "chameleon just work in boot_legacy not in UEFI mode" so if you want use Chameleon, change for legacy_boot...

Good Luck man!

Hello

Clover work in legacy and in UEFI mode....

Did you set your Bios to which mode?

Anyway,... i'll try help you if you choose Chameleon or Clover.

Alright, so this is my situation:

I had win7 on my laptop, than I installed OSX.(with mbr patch of course)

I tried to install clover, but the os boot screen appears, so I guess i have to install it in legacy mode, but I don t know how to do it.

Anyway this are my boot options in the bios.

Like i said: "Clover work in legacy and in UEFI mode...." So you can install it whithout problem...

Make these things:

*Configure your Bios: http://olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1804

*Set your Bios to legacy_mode: http://olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=4084

*re-Install OSX...

*Install Chameleon as i teach in here(all steps): http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/295630-instala%C3%A7%C3%A3o-e-configura%C3%A7%C3%A3o-do-chameleon-bootloader/

if you are using Windows in MBR the best choice is to use the Chameleon.

but for use Clover in UEFI, you should use Windows on GPT.

take a look here: UEFI multi boot with Clover
