jacobisthe Posted October 18, 2013 Share Posted October 18, 2013 I am having a strange issue with my laptop (a HP DV6 6190us) that has a ATI Radeon 5670m and intel 3000 graphics. It will be black until it is plugged into an external monitor, then both screens start working. I can then unplug the external monitor and the laptop monitor will continue to work. Does anyone have any ideas what might be happening and how I could fix it? jacobisthe Posted October 19, 2013 Author Share Posted October 19, 2013 First of all, I messed up why I typed the graphics card. It is a hd 6770m not a 5670m. This card was used in some iMac and Macbook Pros so it is actually kind of supposed natively. I fixed this issue. I did it by upgrading to 10.9 (and using a patched DSDT that I had on my 10.8 install anyway). It is working like a charm. I think the issue was with the Intel 3000 and other than updating, I don't know how to fix it.
