[Solved]Weird Black screen issue[Solved]

Sorry for the delay, Actually I wasn't able to find a USB Keyboard(Most of my friends either use a Wireless one or simply PS/2). So, I simply bought this: http://www.usbwholesale.com/ps2%20usb%20converter.htm

I was able to get through that No keyboard error but still my mouse and keyboard don't seem to work. I am able to boot Lion 10.7.3 only with the help of the boot flag

-v -x npci=0x2000 arch=i386 which you suggested before. It would otherwise get stuck at [ PCI Configuration Begin ]. I still have to boot OS X with the external hard disk as I haven't installed Chameleon yet.

Apart from that graphics are still an issue.

But you have finished installing 10.7.3 and it is running?

Resume following the guide in the Post Installation section:

Copy the /Extra folder from the USB over to the Lion hard drive

Install Chameleon. Go to this page and download the 1st PKG 1925: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=231075

Put it on the Desktop and double-click it to run it. Afterwards, see if you can boot the computer without the USB. Boot -v arch=i386

Next step after installing Chameleon is Patching DSDT according to the guide. I'm not sure how to do it though. I am using Asus P5KPL AM/PS Mobo and I couldn't find any patches for it. Though I saw one patch for P5KPL AM. Will it work?

And if not, Is patching DSDT necessary?

OK, go to the /Extra folder and look inside org.chameleon.Boot.plist and tell me if there is an entry that says GraphicsEnabler with Yes right below it. Even better, a copy of the contents of the file would be good if you can paste it.

This is how org.chameleon.boot.plist looks like:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>GenerateCStates</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>GeneratePStates</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string></string>

</dict>

</plist

-v npci=0x2000 arch=i386 GraphicsEnabler=Yes

You tried that while booting to Lion just now and it didn't work? I know it didn't work back when you were on Snow Leopard. But booting -x, interfered with the graphics.

We no longer boot with -x.

Also, to try to fix your PS/2, download the following and install the kexts. You are using Kext Helper or Kext Wizard or something like it to install kexts, right?

Booting: we can put your boot flags into your org.chameleon.Boot.plist file so you don't have to type them every time. Please paste the contents of that file found in the Extra folder and I will mark it up.

App Store: have you tried App Store in the Applications folder? Do you have an ethernet card? App Store likes it when you have an ethernet card.

Sound: You can boot into Windows right? I would like you to go to Windows and go to Device Manager. Find the category for Sound and click the little arrow. For each item under sound you find there, I would like you to do the following:

- right-click on it and select Properties

- click the Details tab

- in the pop-up menu, select Hardware Id's

- please give me the 4 hex numbers following the VEN_ and following DEV_

App Store: I can access the App store but cannot log in or download anything. This is what I get when I try to do so: "Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance."

Booting: Contents of

org.chameleon.Boot.plist are as follows:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>GenerateCStates</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>GeneratePStates</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string></string>

</dict>

</plist>

Sound: I'll reboot and let you know in a while.

You didn't answer about the ethernet. Do you have an ethernet card in your computer? I didn't see it in the hardware list, but it might have gotten missed.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>GenerateCStates</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>GeneratePStates</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>npci=0x2000 arch=i386</string>

</dict>

</plist>

After updating the file, you can boot with -v for now.

In the Extra folder should be a smbios.plist

Please paste its contents.

I put the EthernetBuiltIn to try to fake out the App Store. But you might have to actually get an ethernet card to access the Store.

You can update the org.chameleon.Boot.plist

I still would like to see the smbios.plist too.

Here is my smbios.plist file:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>SMbiosdate</key>

<string>04/27/09</string>

<key>SMbiosversion</key>

<string>IM91.88Z.008D.B08.0904271717</string>

<key>SMboardproduct</key>

<string>Mac-F2218EA9</string>

<key>SMfamily</key>

<string>iMac</string>

<key>SMmanufacter</key>

<string>Apple Inc.</string>

<key>SMproductname</key>

<string>iMac9,1</string>

<key>SMserial</key>

<string></string>

</dict>

</plist>

I haven't rebooted yet, I'll reboot and let you know how it goes.

Edit: I rebooted and It worked like a charm! :-)

Btw, are there no work arounds for my USB WiFi Dongle? :/

Btw, This is what I found in Windows in Device manager under Sounds and Graphics:

High Definition Audio Device _10EC _0662

NVIDIA High Definition Audio _10DE _000B

NVIDIA High Definition Audio _10DE _000B

NVIDIA High Definition Audio _10DE _000B

NVIDIA High Definition Audio _10DE _000B

For the dongle, you can try the old drivers that you found worked in Snow Leopard. Look at the label of the dongle. Does it have a revision letter?

For the App Store, you can try it again and see if it works now. But I suspect that to get the App Store to work, you will need an ethernet card.

I will work on the sound.

Sound:

Open Terminal

Type:  cd /System/Library/Extensions
Type:  mv AppleHDA.kext AppleHDA.kext.bak

Download and install these kexts: http://www.osx86.net/view/2347-10.7.3_alc662_fully_working_lion.html
