drolevar
Hi! I've installed subj as follows: 1. Part/Primary - Win/NTFS 2. Part/Primary - MacOS 3. Extended Installation goes just fine, but at the end I see this gray glowing circle and the system doesn't restart. I've used Reset. Then the system boots just fine, I tried installing Picasa package, it hung up. I tried installing any other package, it also stopped responding. When I restarted it (it also stopped responding while shutting down), I see lots of the following messages: AppleFWOHCI_AsyncTransmit::waitForDMA - context not going inactive I mean hundreds of them and nothing happens. Then the message Still waiting for root device appears And that's the end. When I've reinstalled the system, I saw lots of waitForDMA messages during the first boot, and any installation failed complaining it cannot write to the disk. What can be the problem? During the installation I use the following packages: 1. INTEL SSE3 2. AMD Decrypts 3. VIA SATA P.S. I used the image: Mac-OS-X-10.4.7-AMD.Intel-(JaS)-ISO-Repack Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/27807-second-boot-fails-osx-147-jas/ Share on other sites
darkip
I just installed JaS 10.4.7 as well on the same motherboard and found the same issue, second boot results in - 'waiting for root device' etc Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/27807-second-boot-fails-osx-147-jas/#findComment-189818 Share on other sites
drolevar
darkip Do you run 10.4.5? Is it OK? I found out that my distro contains the followind packages: 10.4.6.AMD.Decrypts.pkg 10.4.7.GMA900.Support.pkg 10.4.7.Intel.SSE2.pkg 10.4.7.Intel.SSE3.pkg AMD.Kernel.pkg AMD.Radeon.Laptop.pkg ATI.ATA.pkg JaS.10.4.7.AMD.Combo.Update.pkg JaS.10.4.7.Combo.Update.pkg JaS.10.4.7.Radeon.Xseries.Support.pkg Nforce.Fix.pkg But somehow instead of seeing two packages: JaS.10.4.7.AMD.Combo.Update.pkg JaS.10.4.7.Combo.Update.pkg i see only the latter. Also, can anyone tell me where the list of the packages displayed during installation is stored? And how does the installer decide whether to display some package? JaS
Umm What is this ? 1. INTEL SSE3 <--- this system will never boot into the desktop mix and matching cpu type patches. 2. AMD Decrypts 3. VIA SATA It might be your firewire.disable it in the bios and see what happens Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/27807-second-boot-fails-osx-147-jas/#findComment-189868 Share on other sites
drolevar
Yes, but I have no AMD SSE3 patch available. Also I don't see a choice for JaS 10.4.7 AMD Combo Update (as I mentioned above). Maybe I've got the wrong distro. Could you recommend the best OSX distro for my configuration? RiceTea
Perhaps someone could reseed the original 10.4.7 Jas - the demons removed it as far as I know. Umm What is this ? 1. drolevar
SammyOSX86 Did it include everything needed for an AMD platform? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/27807-second-boot-fails-osx-147-jas/#findComment-189886 Share on other sites
Rammjet
Perhaps someone could reseed the original 10.4.7 Jas - the demons removed it as far as I know. There is an iso repack still on Demon. It is the original .dmg distribution expanded to an .iso and then .rar compressed. drolevar
If it is Mac-OS-X-10.4.7-AMD.Intel-(JaS)-ISO-Repack then it's what I have. I've downloaded it from there. But I the support of AMD there is unclear for me. I've got the troubles mentioned above. Rammjet
Select the AMD 10.4.7 Combo Update and the AMD Kernel. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=4499 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/27807-second-boot-fails-osx-147-jas/#findComment-189896 Share on other sites
drolevar
And NO INTEL.SSE3 and VIA.Sata.ATA? Also, is it needed to perform some additional postinstall action (like restoring permissions, etc.)? Rammjet
And NO INTEL.SSE3 and VIA.Sata.ATA? You can select the Via Sata ATA. But the Intel SSE3 is for, uhhh, Intel. It will crash your system. The AMD kernel has what you need. drolevar
OK, I somehow made it working, doing something like here: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...ATA_hard_drives Not to mention that running it on VMWare screwed up my Windows installation... But now I have problem with the Installer. When I run any .pkg or .mpkg file the installer just hangs up. Any thoughts? loukaniko
go to Utils, right click installer click get info, tick open with rosetta that will fix the installer Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/27807-second-boot-fails-osx-147-jas/#findComment-213257 Share on other sites
drolevar
loukaniko This could be fixed by just running the AMD_Enabler patch. No rosetta. Search in the forum.
