I find the internet part very hard to believe although I could be wrong. If you look at just the United States what percentage of the world does that account for? Then out of that percent how many americans have internet access? Then add up N. America, S. America, Europe, and i believe those continents alone would make up more tan 3%. That's just my way of looking at it. Who knows?

You're exactly right. According to internetworldstats.com, approximately 6% of the world uses the internet. Although it's not much more than 3%, when used in comparison with the number of people in the world, you end up getting a ton more users. A few of those statistics mentioned look a little off, but when you apply them to 100 people, that small difference doesn't really show.

Sorta creepy though...

I loved the design of that site/flash video. Very cool.

I am not sure what number you are looking at, but from what I see 16% of the world uses the Internet. I don't know where they got that 3% from. Since some poorer countries have recently introduced free broadband to everyone (which is a very smart move to benefit their economy), I expect this number will get quite a bit higher in the near future.

Penetration % is different than people who use it. I think Penetration % is the percentage of people who have ever used it, as in a visit to a library computer or just used it once or twice. Total number usage is the number of people who use it daily, or own their own internet connection.

What I did to get 6% was to divide the Total Internet Usage Latest Data number by the estimated number of people in the world. That gave me 6.1123123412361 pecent, or something close to it. That number should definitely increase once internet becomes provided as a nationwide basis, for the smaller nations. The larger nations will still increase, as more and more people succumb to the internet, but at a much slower pace due to the many private companies that dominate the broadband landscape.

Arent we forgetting one simple fact? Not everybody has a computer. Think of america and asia, and Europe, when they say internet access, they refer to computers they can scan, but most of the time youll have 7 people living in a house, and they will have one computer, all of them use it, but only one person registers because its only one computer, so really when you get right down to it, its probably not 3% or 6% its probably closer to %30 simply because you cant physically count everybody that has internet access, you can only count the COMPUTERS that have internet access, theres a huge difference here, unless im mistaken.

If there were 99 people, and 1 Bill Gates....

One of the 99 people would influence the other 98 to storm Bill Gate's house, kill, disable, or mame hiim, and take all his money, and distribute it equally among the people.

The guys in the wheel chairs, would run him over, and take his electronic devices. The hungry would storm his kitchens, and take all of his food, the poor would raid his safes, and take all his cash. When they were done, they would burn his house to the ground, rebuild their society, and live with 200,000,000,000 (Yep, thats a accurate number) times the wealth they previously had.

I want to see a statistic done, on how rich each person in the world would be, if the wealth was distributed equally among the peoples of the world. Yes, I do believe in the robin hood mentality.

I do too for the most part, theres got to be a way though that if you work hard you get more. like an incentive program, otherwise its just like soviet russia, and it wouldnt work.

Wasn't that essentially the aim of Communism? Then again, it was also the practice of the early Christian churches as well.

The aim of capitalism was to make %0.1 of the population incredably rich, form a middle class of about %10, and then oppress the other %89.9 of the population into being poor, and begging. The exact opposite of the aim of communism. So as far as I am concerned. Capitalism is as Evil as Nazi Germany. The idea was thought of about the time ROME started to gain power. Remember Rome? The one line America? That failed!

How is that different from the FAILED attampts at Communism? Im a Christian Marxist. Communism is not a good implementation of a society.

Some people can't believe there is such thing as a free book. Capitalists believe that giving something away is EVIL :)

I totally agree that it should be more equal, but there should be a way that if you work harder you get more, and if you dont work hard, you get less, however, it seems like the way we have it now, youre rich if youre born into a rich family, middle class if youre born into a middle class family, and poor if youre born into a poor family, thats not right, your wealth should be totally determined on your merits as a person. Nothing wrong with being rich, but when youve got 60 billion dollars and youre gunning for more, thats just over the top, people dont need that much money to have a good life, and that money can be used for something that will help millions of people.

From what ive seen, the best form of workable government is capitalism, with heavy socialist overtones, but not quite socialist.

Im a big fan of small business, I hate big business, heres the reason, in a small business, they are there to sell things, but they are also contributing to the community, because they are part of the community, but a big business like best buy, or wal mart, isnt part of ANY community, they are just in it for the money, and yknow theres nothing wrong with money, but when its ALL about the money, then you know youve got a serious problem, human being wise, I try to make it a point to not shop at those stores.

Dont agree with me that they are evil? Say they have the lowest prices? Its only because they have to, if there were no competition, they would charge outrageous prices for things, just look at best buy and their cables, they charge 50 dollars for a 3 foot USB cable, when in reality the cable costs 67 cents to make. You walk into a local computer store on the other hand, and you see the same cable for 10, still making a lot of money on the cable, but theyre not looking to rape you like the big company is.

Small business is actually the backbone of our economy, and if people dont see that, then were in for a rough couple of decades.
