Just updated to 10.6.8

What do you mean Chameleon with GE and not s/l/e?? I still didnt install any bootloader, still using ##### to load OS.

Any recommendations?

Are you a noob or a newbie? Simply add GraphicsEnabler=Yes in the plist file in the Extra folder and reboot to get QE/CI. No addition of kext if you already have 10.6.7 or above update...

I will give that a try.

Tell me something, I must install Chameleon? or will it work with the one that comes with #####?

All you need to get HD5450 working in 10.6.8/10.7.X is to put ati5000injector.kext in E/E and restart.

I've done it in both Snow Leopard and Lion.

Alright I will give that a try however whats exactly a S/L/E? and E/E?

Thank you.

Edti:

/System/Library/Extensions (further /S/L/E) - system folder with all OSX kexts.

/Extra/Extensions (further /E/E) - a separate folder for custom kexts to separate them from vanilla kexts.

Correct?

Edit: I don't seem to have a /Extra folder.

E/E is /Extra/Extensions , you're correct.

You have the folder, it's just hidden by default.

There are few simple ways to show hidden files on the Mac:

Eiszeit,

In your pic I see that u have got the videocard works but it's recognized as 5000 series, like me with ##### method with 10.7.2

All SEEMS to works good but Chess game crash after 2 moves and also the dvd player won't load (and al the transiction effects are slow).

This means that QE/CI is not really enabled as you think.

Another users get the card fully working and 5450 recognized simply adding the id of the card in the ati5000 and ati3000 kext ...For me it doesn't work cause if I see the log of the verbose mode it doesn't recognize the ATI PORTS of the videoboard and also the ATI FRAMEBUFFER is not setted.

I've tried injector, only GE, but nothing seems to work as well..I'm desperate, I don't wan't to change another videoboard..

any suggest?

ps: I work in dual monitor mode at 1080p

mauroalpha,

I don't usually play Chess, but I just tried to and it didn't crash (yet), I played more than 2 moves.

The DVD Player doesn't work because of the DVD burner, not the Graphic Card, I heard there are some solution for it but I don't bother fixing it because I wouldn't use it anyway.

I have used it like that for few months already and haven't faced any problems, I even played some of the 3D games for mac like Asphalt and they work great, I also watch 1080P movies with VLC and they work great as well (I have a single 1920x1200 monitor).

I'm not sure what is the ##### solution, I used no 3rd party program to make it work, only:

sigh .. we've made this experience soooo many times with grfx cards in this forum .. ATI 1234 from ONE manufacturer is almost always NOT THE SAME ATI 1234 from ANOTHER manufacturer - esp. not in OS X !!!!! Why do you think there are Radeon HD5450's from Asus, Gigabyte, Alpha-tek, Visontek, Sapphire, etc. pp.? Because they are the same? Naturally not - because they are NOT the same. All that's the same is that they purchased this particular CHIPSET from AMD (or Nvidia for Nvidia based adapters). How they implement it is up to EACH manufacturer. That's what all these threads "ATI 1234 FULLY working" are BS! We MUST !!!! always a) provide EXACT name of our grfx card incl. manufacturer AND exact model number, like Sapphire Radeon HD 5450 1 GB DDR3 HDMIDVI-IVGA PCI-Express Graphics Card 100292DDR3L, AND (please) the EXACT link where you purchased it, e.g. http://www.amazon.co...19&sr=8-3-fkmr1

EVERYTHING ELSE IS ALMOST COMPLETELY USELESS !! Just look around in this froum, convince yourself!

But even with such a link there is no guarantue: we've ordered two cards from the exact same link from NewEgg, with about 7 months distance. The first card works perfectly in Leo & Snwo - in the same computer, the 2nd card DOESN'T - even though it looks EXACTLY the same. Only tiny difference: REVISION! I thought, oh well, can just be some tiny little value I need to figure out via some utility and enter into some plist - NO GO! After a day I gave up. The card is now runnign in some Linux machine ...

All that said: PLEASE (!!) edit your above postings and add the required data - EXACT model name + link to online shop where you purchased it. This has proven to be the ONLY way out of this mess!

Over (but not out) -

Bugs
