Suggestions for an EVEN BETTER 10.4.7 install DVD

OK, I've tried many many osx images around here and I can just say that JaS' 10.4.7 si the best I've used. Not only it is the best, it is also very very good. The wireless automatic detection was great, the gma was great. Really JaS, if you are reading this, you did a magnificent job, most of the stuff works just out of the box.

Now, that DOESN'T mean that it can't be done even better with comments and collaboration from others - I think that's what this community is for. So without any offense, I would like to list a few things that I'd like to see in a new release. If JaS wants to do it, great. If MyZar or someone else takes up the challenge, great too! But by no means this is demeaning to JaS' great work, and I am thankful for his efforts.

Please let's try to keep this list only with stuff that's been done and tested and easily available - don't write "I want support for my 486DX 66mhz"!

What I would like to see and is probably easy to do by someone who's not a dummy (like I am):

-The power management bundle, it's floating around the forums, I've used it, it's great

-The sound on my dell 710m. On previous installs, it used to say no device found but it strangely worked.

-The stock standard ethernet on my laptop doesn't work either, at least not out of the box.

-Moreover, there was a samba problem - any way to fix this?

Now, for my wishlist:

-Updated kernel, anyone?

Any takers? Thanks for your contributions

sounds good, but the updated kernel...hmm I don't think we are ready to try that just yet. but really what's the point of an updated kernel in the first place? also.... I basically agree with everything you said up there, I have yet to try the DVD, but I will..soon.

what do you mean with "common wireless". Does intel 2200bg work in this version?

sorry if this is a bad question but, can someone explain me what is the utility of power management bundle? is it just for laptops? i guess it solves battery issues but i don't know

The automatic installation of the "common wireless" is just amazing. Do we know, or has JaS documented how he did this?

To the best of my knowledge, what JaS did was add all of the known device id's to the existing Broadcom and Atheros drivers in OSX. He did not add any other drivers.

No, 2200bg does not work with this version - no one has created an OSX driver.

The powermanagement bundle is for laptops to show the correct battery info.

ok, thank you for the answer. In that case, i think it would be good if someone can add it to a new release without much work. But if don't, in my opinion it would be better to spend time trying to improve the compatibility of some hardware (if someone knows how to do it) instead of adding a thing that everybody can use although it is not present in the dvd.

Yes, there is. For some might not be a pain in the ass to edit kexts but it is to me. I have 10.4.6 with patches working flawlessly, I mean REALLY flawlessly. I don't really know what caused 10.4.7 to have this sharing problem and, of course, I've got no idea whatsoever of how to fix it. I mean I do, but I suck at editing kexts. My best solution, like I said, was JaS 10.4.6 with JaS 10.4.7 patches. Anyways, I think the current JaS full ISO works pretty well for some but it's never a bad idea to improve it.
