Don Luca
Hi everyone. I'm gonna buy an iMac in a few days and I'd like to know (if anyone owns it) how does it perform with recent games. I'm interested in UT2004, WoW, Quake IV and Doom 3. If they run smooth, I'd like to know the settings of the game (low, medium or high). Thanks in advance! moksha
I've run COD2, Quake 4, UT2004, and Doom 3 extensively on my iMac (20", 2.0 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 256 MB VRAM), and it's great. Way better than the iMac G5 for everything. COD2 gets a bit laggy when you're playing with 30 other people running throughs moke and shooting, but that's about it. UT '04, which seems to get the best Universal performance, runs in the high 80's for framerate. All of the game I've played on optimal resolution (1680x1050), with most things turned to high. Quake and Doom, although I haven't played them as much, both run great as well. I haven't played WoW, but from what other people have said it runs like a beaut as well. Hope this helps your purchasing decision. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26232-imac-and-games/#findComment-177784 Share on other sites

Swad
If XP does work better, it'd be no problem to use Boot Camp to boot into it. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26232-imac-and-games/#findComment-177812 Share on other sites
