Sn1pest3r
I had this issue since i installed SL on my pc, when it's booting, sometimes the "no smoking sign" appears, and hangs there, so i always have to restart to make it work, the 2nd boot always works, but, sometimes it gets kinda boring, how can i solve this? ifrit05
No smoking sign? No. Specs? Tried booting with -v? You won't get much help at this rate. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/262265-boot-issue/#findComment-1714123 Share on other sites
Sn1pest3r
i mean, just like this: It only boots if i add -f, my specs: CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 MoBo: Acer MCP73PV/nforce 630i chipset Memory: 2gb Graphics Card: nVidia Geforce 9500 GS And SL is installed on an external 1tb hard drive. Gringo Vermelho
That's the international stop sign, also used to signal "no entry". A "no smoking" sign would have a cigarette in it. If you boot in verbose mode with the -v flag you should see a message saying "Still Waiting For Root Device". This is the top most asked about issue on InsanelyMac since the beginning of time. For more information, use the forum search, I can guarantee lots of useful results. Your variation of this issue is with a driver that for some reason does not get included in the kext cache, which is why you have to boot with -f. You didn't say whether the drive is eSATA, USB or Firewire. This is important. For more information, use google or the forum search to find user Verdant's nforce guides. He'll have whatever you need in order to get USB or SATA working correctly. Sn1pest3r
SL is installed on an USB drive, i never got to install it on my SATA drive because of the "still waiting for root device" error, also, sometimes i don't need to boot with -f, sometimes just with a restart works Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/262265-boot-issue/#findComment-1719274 Share on other sites
