A Nonny Moose
Similar to the previous ads people are complaining that Apple is ragging on Windows instead of bragging about the Mac. I tend to think that a virtual lack of viruses/spyware/etc is something to brag about (but not too much, because idiots will then target the Mac). So is the statement "Macs are safe from viruses and spyware for now" bragging on the Mac or is it slamming Windows? Kenta
I am almost, with beyond a resonable doubt, sure that they were ment to bash Windows AND brag about the Mac in one hit. aNILEator
I've not been a fan of these 'get a mac' Ad's they just target the completely computer illiterate, for instance i've never had a virus and only on occasion a 'trace' of spyware (cookies mostly) If you're going to visit dodgy websites prepare yourself with a decent firewall and a decent antivirus, both can be obtained for free so no need to go with norton's {censored}, as for antispyware, well its good if you actually get any, which if your careful you won't. Oh and the other mac advert about the magnetic charge cable, what the f*** talk about changing context, the PC was talking about working on his desktop not a laptop and i've knocked over mac Towers before and their cases snap and the speaker pops out, whereas PC towers i've used haven't gained more than a scratch or popped out an unused tray guard you know. Hawk
; They are hitting on stereotypes that simply are no longer around. The best is the whole "We do graphics and fun stuff better" Sorry, Mac, go around in just the simple FREEWARE section and you'll find abunch of cools stuff.. As long you hang around respectable sites. (Such as insanelymac. XP) you'll be fine. Being a PC user myself, I laugh at the sheer stupitidy of the sites..as a friend once said "Well, you got a mac..what can you do on a mac..we can..umm..Breath..?" While a PC hosts overloads of games/apps as well as work related stuff. If I had to pick a system, it would be PC. But because of bootcamp, PC=Mac. Same thing. All this spyware stuff goes out the window as soon as install Windows onto your Mac anyways. Sorry, Mac is targetting anyone who knows JACK about computer (75-85% of the computer users out there...) bluedragon1971
I tend to think that a virtual lack of viruses/spyware/etc is something to brag about (but not too much, because idiots will then target the Mac). Doubtful. Mac users have been essentially virus-free (and bragging about it) since the advent of OS X 5 years ago. That has given "the idiots" plenty of time (and motive too) to target the Mac. Guess what? There STILL is no viable virus for OS X. Contrary to all of the doom-sayers, marketshare has no bearing at all on how many viruses are produced. Back when the Amiga was around, it's marketshare was probably never much above 10%, but it had tons of viruses written for it. Versions of Mac OS before OS X had many too, no matter how high or low Apple's marketshare was at the time.
