ZokkeR
Hey guys, I've got a huge problem but before I tell you those, here are my Hardware- information; ============================= CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 640 Motherboard: Asus M4A88TD-V Evo/ USB3 GPU: ATI HD 4850 (Sapphire) RAM: 4x Kingston DDR3 (1333) 2GB HDD: Maxtor SATA II 250GB Rom: Samsung SATA II Rom In my Bios I deactivated everything, even USB support. ACPI is enabled because I don't know what this is. AHCI is enabled and SATA speed is on 3GB/s ============================= Methodes I used: I used several methods, the most recent is the usage of the iAtkos S3 version 2 (Snow Leopard 10.6.3). Combined with this, I use BootCD 1.5 to reach the Disk- menu itself. Within the installation, I selected the quooz/nawcom 110.3 kernel, nothing else has bee changed! After a "Installation successful" and a normal shut- down, I try to boot into my brand new Snow Leopard. Unfortuanley, my OS won't even boot. There's no kernel- error or such. The system just shuts itself down. One time I was able to read the last few lines of the messages there: ------------------------------------------------- Can't get kextd port CPU halted [...] Now it is save to shut down the PC ~shutdown~ -------------------------------------------------- I tried to verbose, safe- boot or load kextd, nothing works. Single- user does, I don't know why. Because I have this problem for a couple days now, I asked Google and some people got the problem soved with commands/ repair the disk - it didn't help me =( I thought it could be my Blu Ray Rom so I put it out, reinstalled but the same problem. :s I tried to get Snow Leopard running with a Retail of 10.6.0, 10.6.2, 10.6.3 and a Hazard distro (which has kernelpanics :s) I'm so speachless... Help would be so awesome!! -Phil Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/259842-cpu-halted-reboot/ Share on other sites

Gringo Vermelho
it suck there. Definitely. One way to fix it is to replace two kexts from 10.6.7, files and details in the 10.6.8 release thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=260539 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/259842-cpu-halted-reboot/#findComment-1703364 Share on other sites
ZokkeR
Thank you for your fast response! I wasn't able to boot when I replaced the known kext so I reinstalled the Retail. But I'm having the same issue as in the first post, my Mac can't boot alone, it needs that ModCD, without it, it on't boot. =/ Hope someone knows how to deal with it. Gringo Vermelho
my Mac can't boot alone, it needs that ModCD, without it, it on't boot. Install a boot loader. Read this thread for an explanation of why: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=260657 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/259842-cpu-halted-reboot/#findComment-1703459 Share on other sites

ZokkeR
Okay, I tried to connect my Ipod touch with my mac but it's not there. I searched around and people say that I may need to compare my kernel and my system.kext and when it's different I need to make it equal. My kernel version is 10.4.0, my System.kext tells me 10.7, is there any decent AMD kernel out? And do I need to replace it with the current mach_kernel in the / directory?? ZokkeR
Hey mate, it worked, thanks! The last problem I got is that I can't watch videos on youtube or just movies, .MKV files with VLC or .AVI files. I don't know why... Noam AA
do you have QE/CI enabled? you can check it by opening Dashboard and drop a wiget, if you see water effect then it's enabled, if not, search how to do it, there are plenty of information and methods, the most easy one is graphic enabler=y in com.apple.boot.plist (but you need chameleon with ATI support) Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/259842-cpu-halted-reboot/#findComment-1704472 Share on other sites
ZokkeR
Actually I don't know how to drop something from the Dashboard. :/ Which com.apple.plist should I configure? The one in /Extras or in Systems...? Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/259842-cpu-halted-reboot/#findComment-1704908 Share on other sites
ifrit05
Click dashboard icon, then the plus in the lower left hand corner, and click on any widget on the bottom. If waves appear, then you have QE/CI. Edit the one in /Extra. Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/259842-cpu-halted-reboot/#findComment-1705179 Share on other sites
ZokkeR
Okay, tried that, there was no cool effect so I think it's not enabled! I try to change it somehow. Update; I added the graphic enabler in the com.apple.plist but I still can't watc videos, I try to find a solution around the forums!
