Promethe
So, hi to all After long battle I finally managed to get OSx86 stand and running on my PC. Last thing that I need is soundcard. Yeah. Sound. On USB would be better, becouse I've got all PCI slots used (although I can remove Planet WL-8310 wifi card, 1st - it's not supported, 2nd - i'm using lan now). I looking for something cheap - 15-20 bucks, max. It only had to make sounds. BTW. I've got sigmatel audio on my Intel 945GTP board. Any chance for working? altievane
I think external Sound Cards about $30 bucks up, a Creative SB Live! 24-Bit External USB is working though look in the Wiki for PCI, CMI8738 about less $5-10. mikesown
Argh, and my $200 PCI audigy 2 won't work :/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/2543-cheapest-working-soundcard/#findComment-16899 Share on other sites
crumpo
creative soundcards are {censored} anyway;) I picked up a cheap Techsolo Techsolo TC-B16 for 10 bucks, it has a CMI 8738 chip (which seems to work just fine and easy without much hassle). Most of the really cheap soundboards have a CMI 8738 actually, so it should prove to be too difficult to pick up one. offall
I guess the cheapest method is to get a CMI 8738 sound card like this http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...11756&CatId=107 or this http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...72148&CatId=107 it is a really old and crapy sound card though, I used to have it 6 years ago, wondering why they still selling them now, but according to wiki, it works well in tiger. I am actually thinking about same thing, but not sure if we could figure out the sigmatel one ourselfs Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/2543-cheapest-working-soundcard/#findComment-17479 Share on other sites

Well, it's not a soundcard that finally worked for me - it was a usb audio plugin. I only have the builtin AC97 available on my Dell 8400 - the SoundBlaster live card does not work. So I looked around and decided to try this very inexpensive device (about $15 to $20 on ebay or tiger direct) and it works like a charm. The url is: http://www.soundmax.com.tw It works great with iTunes, and I get all the desktop noise associated with Macs as well...
