X1600 QE,CI, but dashboard ripples sucks

Hi all, I have a JaS 10.4.6 updated to 10.4.7 with AMD update to 10.4.7.

Y bought a ATI x1600 card to replace my nv6600 (QE,CI rules!!).

but I am a bit confused.

Now I have 3d (chess game wors fine ), seems to be QE (I can minimize a dvd playing), but CI seems to be not working. For example, Core Image FUN House only shows white square... where must be an image..

Anyone can tell me if 10.4.4 ATINDRV.kext will fix it? ¿where can I find IT? (PM will be welcome)

My profile manager looks like that.. (is all ok)

I have same problems. Ripples don't work, Photobooth works really slow and effect preview is not working in iMovie. I have used the borisbadenov method installer v3.2. When I start photobooth with terminal window, there are lots of Core Image errors in there.

This is caused by the faulty opengl.framework in 10.4.7, which btw is needed to get x1800/1900 cards to work at all (a requirement for the 10.4.7 ati kexts) :D

Not that I would trade my X1900 for a X1600 just because of this, it'll be solved in the future.... hopefully :D

Hi guys!

I have a geCube X1600 silent and i have modified the drivers myself. NeoPehus' removed all ATI Drivers and AppleHWSensor.kext, maybe this was the problem. Copy all the drivers from NeoPheus' backup drawer back to the Extensions folder and make a backup of these files:

AppleHWSensor.kext

ATINDRV.kext

ATIRadeonX1000.kext

ATIRadeonX1000GA.plugin

Now replace these files from my archive to the Extensions folder. The Device ID from my card is 71c2. Maybe you have to fix the Device ID to your own from System Profiler. Open the .plist files of ATIRadeonX1000.kext and ATIX1000GA.plugin and replace all occurences from 71c2 to your own device ID by using the Find/Replace function. After this delete Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mext in /System/Library folder. Then open terminal and type this:

sudo kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions (enter password)

diskutil repairpermissions /

to re-read all drivers and repair disk permissions, then reboot. For text output, boot in -v mode. If all works, you will now have full dashboard ripple effect. If you get a message, that the drivers couldn't be loaded correctly, open terminal and type:

sudo -s (enter password)

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions && chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions

then do the steps above. Wish you luck!

GreetinX from the Other Side!

P.S.: Maybe you'll get a load/link error in GeForce.kext. But this doesn't matter. If you don't want to have it, delete Geforce.kext. but make a backup before.

Note From Moderator: I removed the kext attachment due to the fact that the code of the kext is copyrighted by Apple. I would suggest instructing others on how to do the modifcations themselves, develop a partial patch file, or find an alternate way to distribute the file. Thanks.
