I just installed OSX 10.4.6 on my Dell Inspiron 4150. Everything (except the wireless) seems to work great, but the funny thing is it says I have a 2.4Ghz P4-M when it should say 2.0Ghz. Is this a common? Are there any OSX applications that would properly report the CPU speed? Thanks!

I will bet all of u have intel processor, right?

Check all kernel patches that have been applied.

From a terminal windown, type in the following:

$strings -a /mach_kernel | grep MAXX

Make sure all the patches are appropriate for ur processor. I think this is good starting point.

here is waht i get:

I have a 4150 myself, been using it since long before I put out Release1 (10.4.1) and it's always going to misread the CPU specs, it's just a fact of life with OSx86 for us. You know what CPU you have, so why bother with it? :)
