JuzzMann Posted August 15, 2006 Share Posted August 15, 2006 hello everyone, i have just finished installing osx 10.4.5 on my PC. On my first reboot after installing i get an error that says AppleAC97Audio.kext was installed incorrectly and cannot be used, i get the same error for the AppleAC97IntelICH.kext. So i tried to install the AppleAC97Audio.kext for 10.4.3 but I'm sure I installed it wrong, SINCE I AM A TOTAL NEWB!!!!!!! Can someone PLEASE help me get my AppleAC97Audio.kext installed correctly. mifki Posted August 15, 2006 Share Posted August 15, 2006 Have you ever heard of a thing called "Search", obviously not. The error you are gettign is a permisions error. What you have to do is open up terminal, type 1) sudo chmod- R 755 \*Dir Of Kext* 2) sudo chown -R root:wheel \*Dir Of Kext* 3) sudo rm \System\Library\Extensions.mkext 4) sudo rm \System\Library\Extensions.kextcache 5) reboot P.S: I do not know the exact position of the kexts so just add them in Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24655-help-with-sound/#findComment-166074 Share on other sites More sharing options...
