The only solution i found for my occasional EBIOS read errors, is to disconnect the SATA cable from my hard drive and re-connect it again after the DVD starts loading.

I know it doesn't make sense and i don't know what my hard drive has to do with this, but it's the only solution that works for me every time, everything else doesn't work.

Burn the CD again, at the slowest speed supported by burner and media.

Use a CD-RW for boot CDs so you don't have to waste media if you want to change the contents.

It could be the fact that I was burning on to a DVD because I have no blank CDs. :D Another possibility is me using an IDE DVD drive.

I too had a problem with read errors. It went away when I replaced my DVD burner with a Sony Optiarc sata burner. Before I had a good burner that worked perfectly with windows but not pefectly enought to install MacOSX from the 10.6.3 retail disk. Even when I was successful installing MacOSX, I got a few read errors before the install began working without further intervention on my part. I was surprised that the DVD burner would make that much difference.
