Hi

Iv'e been trying for about 2 weeks now to get OSX86 up and running and still no success.

I still get the dreaded "Still waiting for root device" error

-

My specs are:

Cpu - Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66Ghz

Motherboard - MSI MS-7350

Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS

SATA DVD drive and SATA HDD

(Need more?)

-

I think I have tried pretty much everything I've found through reading on here and other forums

1. commands like -f -x cpus=1 rd=disk and so on

2. hooked up a IDE drive

3. Tried various different distros and versions

4. tried routing the SATA ports and the IDE ports

5. Did a back flip while singing my national anthem

-

What pisses me of the most is that iAtkos S3 worked without a problem in first try on another computer. Which I belive is a very similar computer.

Would it be possible to install OSX on this computers hard drive on that computer? Then put it back in this one?

That's a long shot

Any help appreciated because if I see "Still waiting for rott device" one more time I just might throw up!

Thank you!

Is your SATA setting in BIOS in AHCI? Did you format the drive as MBR or GUID?

I have read a lot of times that the AHCI bios is a common solution but thats the thing..

I don't have that option in my BIOS. I read somewhere that RAID indicates AHCI so I have tried fiddling around with that option.

And to be clear this happens before my installation begins

So I have not yet formatted my drive to MBR or GUID

can't believe there's no ' AHCI ' Option

what about BIOS Update ???

MSI site is a {censored} ;)

What is the name of your Board ?

Please look in the Manual of your Board !

CooSee ' Ya

My BIOS:

AMI

V 1.4

To update my BIOS I need a new chip right?

The name of my board?? Motherboard? if so it's MS-7350

No, you dont need a new chip dude, most times. You'll just need to go to your manufacture's website and see if there is a latest version of your BIOS in comparision to the one currently on your computer.

Think of it as a Software/Firmware Upgrade for your Motherboard.

Thanks,

QUICK EDIT:

on the distros, there's an option where you can "turn" AHCI SATA on... did you happen to "choose" that? if not, maybe that's your solution.. if not, experiment with the "SATA" options on the install. I haven't had an AMD install so I have no clue what's going on... but "Still waiting for root device" means your HDD isn't being detected, right?

As I said earlier this happens before the install

I can't get past the apple logo in the beginning of the installer

But I think you are correct about the message meaning that my HDD is not detected

EDIT:

I can't open the file you sent earlier with the 2.7 BIOS

I think it's because I'm running Win7 64x

You just need to use a distro or boot CD that has better nforce 4xx support. You can add the drivers yourself to your boot CD if you're using a retail DVD to install - boot CDs don't work with hacked install DVDs.

For more information, use the forum search to find the nforce installation guides by Verdant.

Thank you so much

I will look into that and get back to you

I think this is way over my noobish head :)

I think Apple has beaten me
