Perhaps interesting for the chameleon script devs to kno whow much % use EFI and how much MBR (non EFI) install method.

I use MBR ;)

Here the unofficial Chameleon dev thread, with the newest Chameleon builds.

Major script changes/fixes for EFI/MBR install scripts are in the work of that chameleon build devs.

Another erroneous use of the term EFI. No wonder people are confused.. The fact that GPT (GUID) partitioning scheme is used by Apple and incorporates an EFI System Partition *does not* make the use of it an "EFI" install. Chameleon does not incorporate any EFI, nor do any of the boot-132 derived bootloaders such as PC-EFI. Please try to get the terminology right.

As for the relative advantages of the 2 partitioning types, this is already thoroughly discussed and I'm sure the chameleon devs are well aware of them, as should anyone attempting to create (IMO unnecessary) 3rd-party install scripts be.

I used EFI in the poll , beside GUID part schema, because the installers often use EFI also as diff to MBR partition schema.

I know that EFI has nothing to do with GUID/MBR part table schemata, but in real life is used as name for the "other" install type (OS X native install vs OS X modded MBR install).

no, in real life EFI means: EFI any other use is just wrong.

Hi Hagar

You're absolutely right and I'll use the correct term 'EFI system partition' from now on when referring to a location for installing the Chameleon files. But Mitch is right though in the fact that the term has become slighty blasé and maybe it's time now for it to stop, especially for when our future machines will no longer use BIOS and the next generation of EFI loaders arrive.
