unixguru
My iBook G3 800Mhz ice died today. It simply would not turn on. Press the power button and nothing happens. No spin up, no boot chime, no nothing. Took the battery out for a while. Didn't help. The light does turn amber though to show the battery is charging so i think the DC in board and PMU are fine. Any ideas? I'm thinking the mobo is done for.

kevin_4e
If you go to apple.com/support there was a trick that helped my MacBook in the same situation that you're in. Obviously your's is much older than any MacBook but it's worth a try. I couldn't turn on my MacBook so i did the following: Press the control key, the command key, and the power button simultaneously and hold for three seconds to try to restart the computer. Hopefully that does the trick. Here is the official Apple support page for G3 and G4 iBooks that won't start up. Good luck! http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300552

I thought taking out the battery would have reset the PMU, but apparently it did not. I followed Apple's instructions and the machine sprang back to life! AWESOME!!!!
