-Wireless on X58A-UD3R rev.2 FA Round 200-

So last night I was up again (with the help of the ever selfless hangten) trying to get wireless and general function to my hackintosh. Reports to this point are still complete failure sadly.

I have read more posts that I care to even recall about how others got it working - and I am here to report to you that X58A-UD3R Rev.2 FA, i7 950, and HD 5850 do not work with any of these "solutions".

I have followed nearly all of the suggested solutions to the letter, including some random solutions and nothing seems to work at all.

We attempted:

1)Installed fresh OSX SL install

2)Combo updated to 10.6.4 (without reboot)

3)##### with the following:

Kexts- ‐- ‐- ‐- ‐>Audio- ‐- ‐- ‐>LegacyHDA- ‐- ‐- ‐>ALC889

Kexts- ‐- ‐- ‐- ‐>Audio- ‐- ‐- ‐>HDAEnabler- ‐- ‐- ‐>ALC889

Kexts- ‐- ‐- ‐- ‐>Audio- ‐- ‐- ‐>AppleHDA 10.6.2

Kexts- ‐- ‐- ‐- ‐>Disk- ‐- ‐- ‐>IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector (fixes the orange hard drive icons)

Kexts- ‐- ‐- ‐- ‐>Miscellaneous- ‐- ‐- ‐>fakesmc

Chameleon- ‐- ‐- ‐- ‐>Chameleon 2.0 RC4

smbios.plist- ‐- ‐- ‐- ‐>iMac11,1- ‐- ‐- ‐>Core i7

Themes- ‐- ‐- ‐- ‐>Standard Chameleon

4)moved DSDT from this posting to my HDD/E folder.(#67)

5)installed THIS kext from the post HERE

6)modified my smbios.plist file under kernal flags added "arch=i386 busratio=23" (ratio for my i7 950)

7) ran kext utility

8) installed graphcis update

9) rebooted without #####.

RESULTS = hangs after "Verifying DMI Pool Data......."

I attempted to use ##### to get back in...kernal panic!

Tried to use Chemeleon boot usb = blacks screen and fans ramp up to 100%!

So i gave up on that for the night.

I installed windows 7 instead, odly enough windows didn't even detect the Ethernet from a vanilla install. I had to grab the realtek drivers for the 8111e from the site before windows 7 would work on the network. I found that strange because every system I have built works out of the box with stock windows drivers for ethernet (not to say they all always will...but just proves to me it may be a tricky chipset)...after installing the driver from the realtek site windows recognized the ethernet controller and is connected to the internet. At least now i have verified it working and the issue is without a doubt with my osx install.

So that is mainly my exploits for the evening...I would love to hear your guys feedback or thoughts - what else I can try. Windows is on a separate drive so i may be able to edit some files on the OSX install from windows? may save reinstalling? though truthfully I dont mind spending the 30 minutes to start fresh again with OSX install.

till next time!

Heyyo,

K, your problem like some people have had is that kernel panic on ATiRadeonx3000.kext.. that or it is not outputting to your monitor. Dunno why some people have more luck adding that one in after a reboot. What I would reccomend is see if you can reverse the problems caused by potentially the ATiRadeonx3000.kext.

try booting into single user mode and doing the two /sbin commands it shows.. then try this:

rm -rf ati5000controller.kext

rm -rf atiradeonx3000.kext

rm -rf atiframebuffer.kext

rm -rf atisupport.kext

If you can boot in just fine after these? then yeah it was probably the aty_init.kext didn't like you for some odd reason. Some people have had good luck using kabyl's modified bootloader and changing framebuffers the easy way via his "AtiFb" option.

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=231768

So that bootloader.. then try installing snow leopard graphics update 1.0 from apple's site:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1083

Then of course I reccomend going to /system/library/extensions and getting rid of atiradeonx3000.kext, maybe just moving it to the desktop for now.. then rebuilding your .mkext via kext utility or #####.. then cross your fingers and reboot! :(

thank you The_mard for your thoughful response! Unfortunatly I reformatted and reinstalled since then and have tried numerous different things...

My latest install went as follows:

1) remove dsdt.aml for X58A-UD3R from kakewalk 2.2 - i heard when installing with kakewalk ethernet is not always working.

2) installed OSX and ran ##### with the dsdt.aml from kakewalk on the desktop. installed osx applications that is it.

3) rebooted and it wouldnt start. did the black screen and fans at max thing.

4) booted with ##### and installed combo update and 32bit kext from #####. rebooted.

5) booted fine. ethernet not working. installed 81xxx.kext rom lnx2mac. ran kext utility. rebooted.

6) booted fine. ethernet shows self assigned ip.

since then I tried the official driver from realtek, and a few various kexts from all over. even some IOnetworking thing too...all do absolutly nothing. The screenshot below shows the setup...

oh no. so what's the status on this build?

Currently...its stalled.

I have installed Windows onto my other drive which obviously is working fine.

At last count the only thing I am certain was working was the graphics with the build. I never had a chance to test the sound, and I can confirm the networking was simply not having any of it.

If anyone has some insight I would be more than happy to test it out - but I am really at a loss a this point - I cannot bare to reinstall OSx another time - I think my disk has melted from the continued installs to try to get this thing working...

Would be happy to try out any ideas anyone may have!!!

Hi iodine,

There a massive thread here on insanelymac trouble shooting your motherboard (my new one as well). many people are 100% working now.

I myself am currently on my hackintosh (exact same specs as you). Almost everything works great except for a few tweaks I need to make here and there. But mostly I'm up and running and will dial it in when I have more time and there is more info.

Good luck. Let me know if I can help in any way. I can tell you what I did. As far as the ethernet etc i know that's been solved. Not something I can check on my system cause I'm on wireless.
