  1. i7 mac pro build feedback

Hi iodine, There a massive thread here on insanelymac trouble shooting your motherboard (my new one as well). many people are 100% working now. I myself am currently on my hackintosh (exact same specs as you). Almost everything works great except for a few tweaks I need to make here and there. But mostly I'm up and running and will dial it in when I have more time and there is more info. Good luck. Let me know if I can help in any way. I can tell you what I did. As far as the ethernet etc i know that's been solved. Not something I can check on my system cause I'm on wireless. sassafras
  2. Potential Build - Suggestions?

I'm looking at a similar setup. how did yours turn out?
  3. i7-950 Mac Pro help

Hi All. So I am building my hackintosh. I've been combing the forums for a while reading as much as I can and trying to determine the best route. Here's a list of what I'm about to order. GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz LGA 1366 CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) XFX HD-577A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD3-2VTX120G 3.5" 120GB SATA II CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-750HX 750W ATX12V And then some regular HDDs. So my main question is will these play together? I've read a lot about needing rev. 1 vs rev. 2 for the mobo, but when I spoke to customer service at newegg they told me they can't guarantee the revision number. How would I go about being sure I'm ordering rev. 1? The other question I have is concerning the video card. I'm trying to find something similar to Tonymac's product advice, but honestly there are so many cards I just get confused. and the exact card he mentions is out of stock on newegg. And my third question is concerning the i7-950. I've seen more people build with the i7-930 vs i7-950. I'd rather do the 950 cause the price deference is only $20, but being my first build will I run into trouble and less support because most people have used the 930? or is it a very similar process. Sorry if these questions are lame. I just need some final feedback before I drop the loot. Thank you in advance. sassafras

oh no. so what's the status on this build?
  5. i7 mac pro build feedback

I.odine, I will be following your build closely. VERY closely... as in... I'll be a day or two behind you. I'm ordering almost the same parts, but i won't be able to start assembling until sometime next week. Good Luck!
  6. Noob build. Will this work?

I'd like to preface this with the fact that I have never done this before. I'm considering this: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD9 LGA 1366 X58 SATA 6gb/s USB 3.0 XL ATX Intel Core i7-930 Bloomfield 2.8ghz 4 x 256 L2 Cache 8MB l# Cache LGA 1366 put it all on this: http://www.mountainmods.com/mountain-mods-...-tray-p-56.html Add some corsair ram. And then re-use my old g5 nvidia graphics card. And maybe my g5 power? And then put it all in my old g5 case. I'd like to have the system as a back up for my FCS system. I'm just wondering if all this will play nicely together and if there is a build I can follow. I've looked at a lot, but i honestly can't tell which ones are the most recent and correspond to what I'm looking to do. Or should I go with a gulftown. Being my first build I'm a little nervous of frying a $1k chip. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.
