thrunner
This ZD1211 Zydas Chipset based Hawking USB wireless is $5 after a $20 rebate: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_...oduct_id=179602 It has W9x/WinXP, Linux and Mac OSX 10.4 (PPC) drivers: http://www.zydas.com.tw/product/ZD1211.asp Unfortunately, the driver and applet is only Power PC and the USB is not recognized as a network device, although it showed up as a USB 2.0 WLAN under USB. It is possible that they can compiled their code as Universal binary for the x86. I thought I would post this as the cheapest USB wireless solution but it is a no go until they do a recompile: You can email request here: http://www.zydas.com.tw/contact/contact.asp or sales@zydas.com.tw Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/2295-5-ar-hawking-hwu54g-zd1211-usb-wireless/ Share on other sites

PGHammer
Yes, I got the same mesage s you from Robert. The upport person who actually email me the driver was from Europe. No go on the driver though. The UB driver is for OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and is a revision above the one on SMC's own site. It is likely too old for Lion (and may be too old for Snow, for that matter). I think those of us with that adapter need to bite the bullet and get a better-supported (likely N) USB stick adapter (such as the Tenda W311U which MicroCenter has been fire-saling as of late for $10 in-store).
