Hey there, can anyone confirm if this USB wifi dongle will work on mac?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-WiFi-N-Wireless-...=item53e215c2e6

They say its supported by Windows and Mac 10.4-10.6 but I have searched and I cant find any threads confirming the chipset ( Realtek RTL8191SU ) being supported.

Thanks,

Yes, this REALTEK8191SU usb wifi N card should work fine with the Realtek driver on SL 10.6.4 x86_64.

The driver can be downloaded from

Please see the following thread for details.

REALTEK8191SU or REALTEK8192SUL

the AIRLINK 101 - AWLL6075 mini wireless dongle has this chipset REALTEK8191SU, $15 ($10 free ship on sale every month to email subscribers) at meritline

it works great in 10.5 Leopard or 10.6 snow leopard

you can use their installer for MAC, and if you have ANY wireless dongle that uses this chipset, just choose customize in the installer, and check only the kext file to install only the driver

Thank you muchlife, I had been using a randomly downloaded driver from another thread, re RTL8191SU, and, not wanting to sound insecure, it's helpful to know the original sources and, where possible, download direct from source.

My Wireless 802.11n 300Mbps USB Adapter is a getnet GN-621U - getnet's drivers only go up to Leopard 10.5 and though it seemed to work on 32bit Snow, the Wireless Utility part would start up and die instantly in 64bit Snow Leopard.

Early days, I have literally just installed this (installing the kext alone doesn't work for me so I installed the whole package) and should really keep an eye on it before recommending it wholesale for my getnet but... if you're in a hurry... it's working with me, so far, and I will report back if it stops doing so or if it frequently drops the connection, as has happened with some of my other attempts, though more so under Linux.

I just came across this thread and tried both of the driver files here.

After using them, my wireless USB dongle was recognized by osx (10.7) but it is treated like an LAN connection and not a wifi connection.

Anyone know how to change the way it is recognized by osx?
