  1. Yeah unfortunately the new updated versions of the Dell Vostro 3xxx models have switching enabled between Intel and nVidia, this is unsupported in osx so you'll end up running on Intel graphics, which also isnt fully supported in osx. Unless you can get a second hand vostro 3xxx which definately has just nVidia, you will have a massive difficulty getting the new vostros to work.
  2. Hey people, I have a vostro 3500 running 10.6.6 with everything working apart from my WiFi and my Battery detection (if i delete my DSDT my battery is detected, but my sound, USB and trackpad stop working). I have learned to live with those problems however I am wandering if I am the only one with a problem with their DVD drive being detected in OS X? Sometimes when I have booted OS X, it is detected and is working without any problems, however, after 5-10 minutes without using it, it disappears and isnt detected under System Profiler or under Finder. I have tried various drivers (JMicronATA.kext, different versions of IOATAFamily.kext) Can anyone with a fully working DVD drive attach their SATA/AHCI drivers or tell me what I havent done correctly/ not done at all? Thanks!
  3. Hey, My wifi card in my laptop isnt supported by OS X, so I have decided to buy a USB dongle that is supported by OS X. I came accross http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/150Mbps-802-11n-WIRE...=item335ec42fcc this, and it says 10.6.x is supported but they dont include drivers. Can anyone give me a link to the drivers or confirm that the chipset it uses (RTL8188SU) works out of the box? Thanks.
  4. Nvidia Geforce 310m and Atheros AR9285

Just one more thing, does that enable QE/CI, or does it just enable full resolution only? my dell vostro didnt come today, but it will come on monday, so i can only test it then.
  5. Nvidia Geforce 310m and Atheros AR9285

Thank you very much, this is definately gonna help, hopefully my Vostro 3500 is coming today, I will try this out as soon as I get it!
  6. Nvidia Geforce 310m and Atheros AR9285

Thanks for your reply, when my vostro comes later this week, I will try that, and will let you know if it works out for me. Hopefully it will work.
  7. Nvidia Geforce 310m and Atheros AR9285

I am too interested in getting a Geforce 310M to work, as I ordered a Vostro 3500 today with an i5 processor and the nvidia 310M, I am a noob at getting snow leopard to work, but leopard shouldnt be much of a problem for me.
  8. Realtek RTL8191SU Supported?

Hey there, can anyone confirm if this USB wifi dongle will work on mac? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-WiFi-N-Wireless-...=item53e215c2e6 They say its supported by Windows and Mac 10.4-10.6 but I have searched and I cant find any threads confirming the chipset ( Realtek RTL8191SU ) being supported. Thanks, Spo0onMan

  10. No spinning wheel on boot.

    Bump again!
  11. No spinning wheel on boot.

  12. Hello there everyone, I'm sort of having a problem, I have installed OSX86 before, on my desktop which was fully supported, and worked fine. I sold that desktop 3 weeks ago, and bought myself a laptop, an Acer Aspire 7735g. I have reinstalled OS X several times, using several disks, 10.5.8 only booted from the disk at random times (it had no spinning wheel on the boot screen, and was just stuck there, in verbose mode it said something related to AppleUSBEHCI.kext. I then tried 10.5.6 which booted from the disk and installed, but after the installation it would not boot up, and also had no spinning wheel with an error relating to AppleACPIPlatform. After a while of reinstalls with different drivers, I still had no success, and moved onto iDeneb 10.5.5, which installed, but also will not boot. However after installing all the correct kexts through using the 'rd=disk0s2' flag on my iDeneb Install disk, Verbose mode displays no more errors but still wont boot up! I have searched the forums and have found answers ranging from disabling USB Legacy support in BIOS (unfortunately my BIOS is very limited and don't have such an option) to my graphics card not being supported, which cant be the case because i have read threads where people with the same graphics card as me installed OS X successfully but with no graphics acceleration. My specs are: Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 2.1GHz; Intel ICH9 Chipset; 4GB of DDR3 800MHz RAM; ATI HD Radeon 4570 512MB. Pictures: Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
  13. How i got ATI Radeon HD 3850 To Work.

I have just installed a new fresh copy of 10.5.6, and can say that this method also works there too, but starts working halfway through this method, rather than after doing the complete thing.
  14. How i got ATI Radeon HD 3850 To Work.

I think it might work with with DVI and VGA aswell, though I haven't tested it so i can't guarantee it
