Xgl can (for the moment) only works with GTK windows.

 

So, not with KDE

 

not exactly... compiz works on kde and qt compiled programs, (i'm using it now) but you get a window with gnome decorations.. just the title bar is different...

 

imo xgl+compiz cannot be compiled on macos... because:

 

1) it needs modular Xorg 7.x, and you can't upgrade the current X11 version in macosX(afaik)

2) afaik the xgl overlays around the net aren't designed for unix systems.. only linuxes

3) to use XGL you need opengl indirect acceleration, macosX does it thru quartz but X11 programs need a specific api to use quartz, that is not used in XGL source for sure

4) i doubt it would compile on gcc 4.0 w/out modifications

 

so forget it
