there s an app called displat maestro seems to:

Display Maestro gives you full control over attached displays, allowing the usage of all available resolutions and bit depths. This is done by ignoring the operating system setting of hiding potentially unsafe resolutions.

It is ideal for running legacy games which require 256-color mode and do not automatically switch the screen depth for you. Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard removed the ability to set 256 color mode manually using the built-in preferences pane, but the feature is now available here in Display Maestro!

Display Maestro is a small application which can be configured to launch during login, and sits quietly in the menu bar. Upon exit, it will also automatically revert your display back to the resolution chosen before it was launched.

 

Features

Display list of all displays and resolutions

Hide/show unsafe resolutions

Restore ColorSync Settings

List detailed information about supported resolutions

List detailed information about the current resolution

List detailed information about each display device.

Current resolution is chccked

Hi, I'm following this thread for some time and I hope someone will find a solution for our VAIO laptop's screen...!

Personally I have a VAIO FZ21M, which has a Nvidia 8400M GT with 256mb dedicated.

I have the same problem as you all, but it's a long time that I cannot test new solutions by you.

So now here I am, to test whatever could be help!

Hey Guys,

 

I am very new user I have f12s1eb(Europian Vaio), i7-740qm with gt330m graphic card, I have install 10.6.6.

 

My very quick question is, could you please show me some way about how can I use HDMI output to external Monitor to get higher resolution. Any links or ideas will be appreciated.

 

And I really use this mac for Xcode, So I need Internet, Tomorrow I am going to buy external Wi-fi card, which one should I buy. Your helps will save lots of time for me. Thank you very Much.

 

btw, I have download MacDrive for windows and I can see inside of mac (HFS+) folders so I can send some files to Mac.

 

And I have install 10.7 to my pc With MBR partition also but I have decided to use 10.6.6. (I am using dual boot also with w7)

You don't need an external wifi card anymore, read the first post on this page lol.

 

Edit: You only need to drop the kext in, there's no need to change the kernel or anything :)

 

Edit #2: Curiously, some people have had various forms of success modifying their ethernet kext to have the system controller as the secondary PCI match. Odd but.. I'm up for trying it.

 

FWIW In the F series the SNC is at 0x9067104D

Did you actually manage to use internet?

 

My Mac folders damaged, probably MacDrive (HFS+) damaged some of files of MAC so I have to install mac all over again. Last thing I made is to try to make internet work but I failed.

 

Do you think that above solution fo internet is real? Please let me Know.

did you manage that kext to work? i still can't see my intel wi-fi card, maybe for the 10.6.6 kernel.. i have kernel panic with 10.6.7 :(

 

edit: ok, with legacy 10.6.7 and disabling 32bit mode i can boot the os with a full 10.6.7 system, but mac os still can't see the wi-fi card. Maybe we have different cards? mine is intel 6200

 

and btw, any european user solved the "<" and ">" key not working with european keyboard?

 

last edit: ok ok ok ok ok i'm a little dumb today, seems like european user (like me) got the intel 6200 by default and american user the atheros, so i still need an external wifi card :hysterical:

It's for the atheros card that comes with the F series sold in the US, not the other cards used in other countries, sorry. The kext does indeed work though, without any other mods (like kernels).

 

Also next time, try installing the Boot Camp Windows drivers in a way so that you have the HFS+ read only support in Windows ;)

Haha,I will Never again play with Mac folders with Windows ;)

 

And, Do you know how to manage external display with higher resolution via HDMI, I have 10.6.6i(Hazard) and I tried 2-3 kexts and some ways in some forums but I failed 2 times ( I reinstall everything). Can you upload your kext files that useful for external display.

 

If anyone knows please help me.

Hello,

 

I have a Sony F11CGX (with G310m) and so far these things work: (thanks to this post and you guys)

- I can install 10.6.3 and upgrade to 10.6.7

- Sounds work

- Wifi works (atheros 9287)

- Bluetooth works (poorly I don't need this one)

- I can have internal display with Graphics Mode set to 1600x900 (full res) and GraphicsEnabler=No

 

I'm a developer and so far with the above functions I can start my programming stuffs but without video (just some avi running with QuickTime), Flash Games or even HTML5 (runs very slow).

 

Still, no internal display with GraphicsEnabler=Yes (external = full QE/CI, perfect!). I don't want to tweak my BIOS because I have no idea about how to deal with it.

 

Now I left my Vaio at home and bring my T61 to work (which is running ideneb 10.5.7 -> 10.5.8 with everything works fine).

 

I hope that we would have an expert who can help :)

ozgur, whatever you're using you need to go to NVDANV50Hal.kext and look for IOPCIPrimaryMatch,

 

there's a list of PCI IDs, add a new line that begins with 0x0a2910de and then make the rest of the line to match the other ones (something like ;fffff00 but I can't remember exactly).

 

Depending on your version of NVDAResman.kext you may also need to add the PCI ID there, it's a long list with commas if you have the old version of that - but the newer versions don't appear to have that list anymore.

 

Either you want the 10.6.7 kexts or the MacBook Pro update kexts for the model of the MBP that came with the 330m ;)

I think it's interesting you can get 1600x900! I only get 1280x800

Meh. I don't think it was meant to be, I just realized why my computer was acting sorta funny when I use SL on it..

 

Anyone ever notice the clock runs fast? Mine seems to run around 10 seconds too fast for every 30 seconds o_O I think I'm done with this. Ubuntu time lol

Never noticed the clock running fast O_O i gotta check it again, everything works for me except the darn screen.. oh and the ethernet.. I tried ubuntu and it works great with the driver update for display which means that a special driver would be whats needed for snow..

 

but in linux before they had that driver they did use a dsdt trick to get the display working. I'm about to give up too.. i just keep hopin i will come on here oneday and some random person will post a magic sony f11 kext for display like that atheros wifi kext which works great!
