dastan
hiii again , and so sorry for not replying for so long ,(i've been busy doing my final exams ,senior year Dental college) so first of all Here is my detailed specification: HP dv6 2140ee Core i5 430m @2.26GHz Turbo to 2.56GHz nVidia G105M with 512MB RAM with CUDA Cores 320GB HDD Hitachi @7200RPM Intel PM55 chipset 3 GB RAM IDT Audio Broadcomm Wireless (not working ,just bluetooth works) .................................... HERE IS A DETAILED GUIDE : 1- I recovered to Windows 7 using original HP recovery (optional ). 2- Download and Burn HAZARD's Snow Leopard 10.6.1 ,10.6.2 Intel Amd . 3- Reboot , and then boot from Internal DVDROM drive (external USB drive doesn't work !) 4- before entering installation press F8 . 5- Type cpus=1 busratio=17 (only needed if you have core i3/i5/i7 CPUs , check here for busratios ) 5- let the loading finish ,then follow the instruction , format one drive to HFS+ ,its not Important if the disk is either MBR or GUID tested on both and both are ok) and the partition must be primary not logical 6- In customization menu select only ( Legacy Kernel 10.2.0 + Chameleon RC3 PCEFI 10.5 ) and NOTHING ELSE . 7- When the installation finished , reboot ,take the DVD out , and boot by using ( cpus=1 busratio=17 ) 8- Finish the installation wizard , you should be in your Desktop by now . 9- now , download Mac OSX 10.6.3 update dmg (it should be around 1.3GB) from apple . 10- download ##### . 11- navigate to your Snow leopards root / 12- delete the mach_kernel file . and keep that window open . 13- download Legacy Kernel 10.3 here 14- install it . 15- now there must be a new mach_kernel inside your SL root drive . 16- copy that new mach_kernel to your desktop ,and delete the one inside your root folder . (if the new mach_kernel named Legacy_kernel , rename it to mach_kernel) 17- so , now you must have ,no mach_kernel inside your SL root folder , a new mach_kernel on your desktop (10.3 ,around 7 MB) 18- now do this with caution , open the Mac osx 10.6.3 installation, and while it do the installation keep an eye on your SL root folder , near 3/4 of the installation a new mach_kernel will appears inside , delete it as fast as you can , and then replace it with the 10.3 that is on your desktop ) , you must do that replacement as fast as you can ,because near the end of the installation of 10.6.3 you'll get a kernel panic .and after you reboot ,the original apple kernel will not let you in again . (((( NOTE : DO THIS STEP IF ONLY YOU COULD NOT REPLACE THE KERNEL IN TIME BEFORE THE PANIC :: after the panic , reboot inside win7 , and install macdrive 8 , the using mac drive replace the new mach_kernel with the one inside your SL drive and then reboot and follow the following , you should be able to extrack mach_kernel from legacy_kernel 10.3 dmg by using 7-zip)))) 19- after the panic occurred , reboot using cpus=1 busratio=17 . 20- then repeat the 10.6.3 installation , but this time it should work without any problem . 21- after it finished DO NOT REBOOT. 22- open ##### . 23- Select ONLY , ##### for UnSupported CPU under the ##### + SystemUtilities (both) 24- let it finish , then reboot . and this time you only need to type busratio=17 and nothing else (you may add this to your com.apple.Boot.plist and make it like this arch=i386 GraphicsEnabler=Yes busratio=17) 25- and also you must boot with ( -pci0 ) for only just ONE time (it makes you Graphic card detect HDMI cable removal) now everything is working without any other extra kexts Graphics FULL with QE/CI Support Sound Working ( but menu bar volume controller doesn't work) WiFi not working , bluetooth working shutdown /reboot full working and I'm ready for any question . WISH YOU ALL THE BEST -------OLD OLD OLD------------------------------ hi everyone I installed Snow Leopard using the ##### and retail DVD method and also using Hazard 10.6 DVD method both of them install correctly (by using cpus=1 busratio=17) but after the installation when it reboots, it show the apple logo for just a second and restarts immediately ( i tried with cpus=1 busratio=17 -x -f -v but nothing helped) also to mention, installing iDeneb's Leopard give the same results . I installed SL on disk0s3 , I have the original Win7 on disk0s1 . and the Disk is MBR not GUID so what should I do? my specs are : HP dv6 Core i5 m430 nVidia G105M PM55 intel chip 3GB RAM Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218373-solvedguide-problem-with-hp-dv6-core-i5/ Share on other sites
Bungo
Try with qoopz kernel (busratio=17), vanilla doesn't support your cpu. Update to 10.6.3 and follow this small guide. It's all you need + some stuff in Extra depend on your hardware. Don't forget fakesmc.kext in Extra! I'm using this booter. dastan
I installed Hazard and selected the Legacy Kernel and GraphicEnabler ,and it worked like charm (now i'm writing this inside the snow !) but i got one big fat problem to solve after creating the account and logging in for the first time everything was ok and fast, but when i rebooted ,it got very very slow on the desktop ,and the icons doesn't seem to load properly and the only way is to boot is by adding -x to cpus=1 busratio=17 , and the graphics get fuzzy with the -x but workable a least ! any fix ? Eng.Ahmed
this is exactly my spec's but with processor of 2.66 not 2.4: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...product=4043711 about what you've said of intel graphics, it's up to the version you're using, my laptop has some versions of it contains intel graphics, but mine I brought it from middle east (my location), it contains ATI not intel, I think that what you were asking about Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218373-solvedguide-problem-with-hp-dv6-core-i5/#findComment-1471835 Share on other sites
otomat
My laptop is HP DV6 2130EJ which has nVidia 420M video card. I don't know what should I config when I install OSX. Anyway, I am going to try dastan's approach and I'll let you know if it worked. All I know right now is that I have to install using cpus=1 busration=17 or else, the installation gets stuck. otomat
Hi Eng.Ahmed As I understood from dastan this is something that can be resolved later on. dastan, since you are the one that got osx working on hp dv6 with core i5, can you give us a step-by-step guide for installing osx on the dv6 laptop? thanks, otomat Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218373-solvedguide-problem-with-hp-dv6-core-i5/#findComment-1472096 Share on other sites
Eng.Ahmed
After googling too much I found that cores i3, i5, i7 have busratios but I didn't find anything about core2duo, as I'm core2duo & I tried to boot without writing the busratio "just only writting cpus=1" & without -x -f -v & it worked with me, the whole problem is that it just goes too slowly & I don't knwo what to do, if anything happened new, I'll tell you... otomat
- update - i succeeded for the first time after endless tries to put on the os-x on my hp dv6-2130ej (core i5). it was done with hazard 10.6.2. but i can only bring it up with cpus=1 busratio=17 -f -v -x. i am probably doing something wrong with the installation. dastan, since you succeeded, let me know how to do it right. by the way, i lost my win7 and i cannot get into it... thanks, otomat dastan can you please tell me what should i do in the customize? i have similar laptop like you wrote: hp dv6 2130ej core i5 nvidia 430m 4gb ram thanks, oto Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218373-solvedguide-problem-with-hp-dv6-core-i5/#findComment-1472461 Share on other sites
Eng.Ahmed
by the way, i lost my win7 and i cannot get into it... Sure you must lose it, but actually it still installed, but there's no boot loader & as the installation set the mac partition active so it's the main one, to log in to your windows partition again, run the mac installation & from disk utilities set the windows partition active, but after that you'll be able to log in to windows not mac, then get from google any program that supports mac & win 7, then install it & install it's boot loader, then you'll be able to boot from both partitions... Either use EasyBCD on windows or Chameleon on Mac Where do I activate the win7 partition in disk utilities? i don't see it...please help. Well I dunno actually how to set a MS-DOS partition to be active using apple installation, but that what I found on the internet, anyway you can make the boot loader by using chameleon efi tools on mac os directly, maybe this will help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218373-solvedguide-problem-with-hp-dv6-core-i5/#findComment-1472807 Share on other sites
