CrazyxDuckxMan
Hi, I just bought a Powermac G5 with Dual 2.0ghz CPUs and it has a ATi X800 via AGP. I was wondering if there was any cards that are better to get. I don't think just any AGP card will work will it? But I have been reading and people are saying that you have to have one with a Mac rom on it, is there a way that you could get any ATi or Nvidia cards working on this using kexts or some way? ARMAGEDDON
Nope. PowerPC Macs uses OpenFirmware, so Cards must have special ROM inside for compatibility. Try search for 7800 GS flashed for PowerPC Macs, fast and with HDTV hardware acceleration.

See here....... If you have a ATI X800 XT (which is what I have in my G5 Dual 2.0GHz PowerMac), you will not really get a better overall graphics card for a Powermac G5 with a 8X AGP slot unless it is the X850 XT.......except if you want to run dual 30" Apple Monitors, in which case you want the GeForce 6800 GT or Ultra, which have Dual-Dual-Link DVI ports.......
