Hello everybody!

I live at Brazil, so hardware is very expensive around here (more than everywhere, trust me). So I want to buy some parts to assemble a good computer that can run OSX/Vista without paying too much for it.

Looking reviews and topics around here this is my final config:

Motherboard:

A8V-E(around U$110 here) or ABIT AN8 FATAL1TY (around U$140 with shipment at ebay)

P5ND2-SLI ASUS SOCKET 775 NVIDIA NF4 ATX 3PCI/1PCI-E (U$110 + SHIP)

or

ASUS P5ND2-SLI SOCKET 775 (U$95 + SHIP)

or

Asus P5LD2-VM (U$120 + SHIP)

Don't need integrated graphics

or

DFI 925X-T2 Socket T (LGA 775)P4/DDR2/FSB800/A&GLAN (U$170)

Processor:

AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4 Ghz 939 Venice (U$180 with shipment at ebay)

Intel Pentium D 830 Dual Core 3.0GHz 800MHz 2MB + FAN (U$150 + SHIP)

Memory:

2x512MB DDR400 (already have)

*Probably will change for 2x1GB kingston DDR400

Graphics:

NVIDIA Geforce FX 6600 512MB PCI-E (U$125 with shipement at ebay)

ATI RADEON X800XL 256M PCI-Express

or

Sapphire ATI Radeon X1600 XT 256MB PCI-e (180)

Hard Disk:

Seagate 80GB 7200RPM (already have)

*Probably will change for a 120GB SATA hard disk

DVD Recorder:

LGE 4167B (already have)

I would be very glad if someone could give any opinion/suggestion.

Thanks a lot!

If I was going to buy a processor today, I would go with the Intel 805 2.6 Ghz dual core. You can get it for $130 shipped and it will overclock to near 4 Ghz with air cooling alone. Overclocked, it will outperform every other processor on the market today in most benchmarks. Also, most people have it running beatifully on OSx86. Also, If you are going to be upgrading your computer, upgrade your ram past DDR400 and get some DDR2.

Yes, I was between those 2 before deciding to buy the Venice because I thought it was faster, maybe because of the 3800 number =) . So if I buy one of those what would be the ideal motherboard, considering that will buy that PCI-E card and new ram, please?

Do you have any suggestion on a 775 board with PCI-E, DDR2, SATA and IDE motherboad?

I've edited the post, what do you think about the last MoBo?

Thanks...

Check out the D915GUX meets your requirements and is pretty much 100% os x compatible.....They can be found pretty cheap on eBay now,

Go for an x1800 (XT or XL) instead if you can foot the bill. It's a better, faster card and works great with OS X.

I'd have bought an XT if I had the extra slot for cooling but went with the XL as it fits in my small form factor case.

This will be my final config

Motherboard:

Intel D915GUXLK 915G Socket 775 mATX

Processor:

Intel PENTIUM D 930 3.0 GHz LGA 775 DUAL CORE

Video:

Sapphire ATI Radeon X1600 Pro 512MB PCI-e

I wil wait a week to see if any one has a better suggestion, thanks for you all guys!

:)
