Joshua Williams
I just read somewhere on the Internet in one of the forums, that Apple has released an updated update 10.6.3 ver1.1, which contains the updated drivers for the Intel 4500MHD. I wish someone with the right access can download and confirm this update. I have waited for sooo long about a year and half now for the real dream to come true I followed deviato's methodology and am stuck without GE/CI. could someone please get the confirmation http://deviato.wordpress.com/2010/02/24/ch...-gma-version-2/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/215446-new-intel-hd-drivers-from-apple/ Share on other sites

sparkythewondersquid
It is true have a look at the bottom of the page http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/performanc...60270&sr=em from what I understand from the people at the apple store they are going to use this as a battery saving ie. switch from Nvidia to intel HD to save on battery but they could not tell me if QE/CI would or not be supported in this mode so hopefully we will have a driver soon Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/215446-new-intel-hd-drivers-from-apple/#findComment-1448162 Share on other sites
riws
10.6.3 v1.1 doesn't contain any new drivers, but the MacBookProSoftwareUpdate1.3.dmg contains drivers for the Intel HD GPU. targeter15
UPDATE you can download the drivers here http://extraspeed.blogspot.com/2010/04/app...phic-kexts.html This is somewhat misleading. Other people have posted that there is a no go with these drivers on the X4500, particularly relating to QE/CI. The X4500 is NOT the same as the HD Graphics on the arrandale platform. There was a comment at netkas's site that also mentioned no success. I would be very interested in knowing if this was somehow remedied by editing the framebuffer id. But again to clarify, these are NOT official drivers for the X4500. They are official drivers for the HD Graphics platform. bboyg
There will never be official driver for 4500 cards. I posted the comment on the netkas blog, to tell him that here in the forum we have not succeeded yet with the patching of the Intel HD kext to work with 4500 cards. So I asked him to help us with that. The kexts must be patchet with hex editor to add the device ids of the GMA4500 (0x2a428086 0x2a438086). Himura84
Well, I've got a laptop with Intel HD Graphics and I installed Snow Leopard with no problems. When I patched the DSDT, it had no errors. Now, when I load the drivers (FB and Acceleration), my SL does not boot. Some people have mentioned that if they only load the acceleration kext, it boots fine, so is it safe to assume that the problem is within the the FrameBuffer kext? Also, someone on a post on netkas site said that there are two other files that needeed to be modified: AppleGraphicsControl.kext and AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext Something to do with SL trying to load gf330m drivers too.
